“Who did this to me?” I whispered. My skin burned. I sat up fast under the sheets. Huge red bite marks covered my neck and arms. There were so many. My inner wolf was shaking. I felt so small and so weak. What happened last night?A flash of a dark room hit my mind. A giant wolf with thick black fur had pinned me down. He did not care that I cried and begged him to stop. He just bit my neck and claimed me for himself. He took my pure wolf spark away.I forced my legs to move. They shook like jelly as I stood up on the cold floor. I had to find the beast who did this to me.But the room was totally empty. The only thing left behind on the pillow was a silver claw earring. It smelled like heavy pine and rain.Did he drop this?I hid the silver claw deep inside my pocket. I turned around to run out, but the big door flew open with a loud crash.Chief Obinna Okafor, my father, stormed into the room. His male partner, Kieran Ashford, held his hand tightly, looking worried. Right behind the

"Where is my drink, sweetheart?" I asked.I had to change my voice so nobody would know who I was."I got it right here, Mommy!" Zuberi Blackthorne said. He handed me the cold can with a huge smile. He looked so beautiful in his little blue clothes. His long eyelashes looked like a doll, and all the women walking around the Ravenmoor International Gateway stopped to stare at him. They were all wondering how a kid could look so pretty. Then they looked at my face and gasped.I was wearing a big, ugly mask that made my nose look totally flat and my skin full of brown spots. I looked like the ugliest wolf in the whole Ravenmoor Moon City."Mommy," Zuberi whispered as we walked through the big crowd. "How long do you have to wear that super ugly thing on your face? It makes me sad.""Are you saying your mommy is ugly, baby?" I teased him, keeping my eyes on the big glass walls."No way!" He shook his head fast. "I just think it feels hot. You are the prettiest alpha queen ever. I just don

"You let her out of your sight, Magnus?"The words did not just come out of his mouth. They shook the heavy wooden beams of the Blackthorne Pack Manor. Supreme Alpha Idris Blackthorne sat on the wide stone bench, his black tunic tight across his broad shoulders. His dark skin and sharp jaw looked hard like stone. His eyes were cold like winter ice, and they stared straight through the guard."I would never hurt the princess, Alpha King!" Magnus Wraith gasped. He stayed down on one knee on the floor. "The crowd at the Ravenmoor International Gateway was too thick with different clan scents. But something amazing happened. Princess Amara spoke."Idris leaned forward fast. His large hands gripped the edges of the bench."Did the healers at the Lunar Crest Research Institute finally fix her mind?" Idris asked. His deep voice grew a little soft."No, it was not the pack doctors," Magnus said, shaking his head. "The treatments did not do anything new. It was a girl. A random wolf woman in h

"A hundred million pack resources is a whole lot, Mommy," Zuberi said. He pointed his small finger at the glowing screen. "A big leader wants your special wolf healing powers. His inner wolf is totally broken."I looked at the name on the message and made a mean sound in my throat."I am not going to save him," I said."But Mommy," Zuberi said, his eyes going wide. "You can buy a whole new territory with that much resource! Why did you say no so fast?""Because he is a bad wolf," I told him. I ripped the fake freckled mask off my face and threw it on the table. "He hurts weak omegas to get more power. Bad wolves like him are always the most scared to die. He cannot buy my heart.""This is why you stopped being a famous pack healer, right?" Zuberi asked. He looked at me with giant eyes full of love. "Now you just help the Alpha Council find out how rogue wolves died.""Living wolves are too greedy," I said. I washed my face with cold water. "They think pack resources can buy anything.

"I am Zanele Okafor, the special bone reader, and I am here to work," I said.I pulled on my thick white gloves and ignored their angry faces. I reached down and picked up a heavy, stinky piece of wolf bone from the muddy grass. I did not even blink at the bad smell."The Head Guardian gave me the power to tell you what to do," I told the mean girl healer. "If you do not like it, keep your mouth shut."Effie Jones and Brandon Hughes just stared at me. Their jaws dropped open. They knew the Alpha Council was sending a very important wolf to help them, but they never thought it would be an ordinary omega girl in her twenties. They stood there like they were frozen in the snow."Why are you staring at me?" I snapped, narrowing my eyes at them. "Is the killer's name written on my face? Get to work!"My fake mask made me look plain, but the sharp fire in my eyes made them shake. They felt the strong alpha energy hiding inside my soul, and they got too scared to talk back. They quickly move

"Are you still staring at the King's black carriage?" I asked, pulling on my thick white doctor robes. The cold air of the eighth floor inside the Major Crimes Unit building smelled like old silver and dead skin. It was right above the dark ice morgue where the pack keeps the bodies of rogue wolves.Effie Jones jumped away from the glass window, her face turning bright red under the magic lights. "N-No! I am not looking at Supreme Alpha Idris Blackthorne! Stop talking nonsense, Zanele!""Only your own inner wolf knows if it is nonsense," I said, my voice cold like ice. I tied my hair back fast. "I do not care who you want to mate with outside of work hours, but if your mind stays on that powerful alpha while we are on duty, you can pack your bags and get out of my bone room. I will throw you out of Ravenmoor Moon City even if your grandfather is the big Chief of the Guard."Effie bit her lip so hard it almost bled. She wanted to growl back at me, but she was too scared. Her grandfathe

"Did you order this gourmet deer meat from the Silverclaw Quarter, Brandon?" I asked, turning off the bright green lights.I walked out of the bone room and pulled off my heavy leather goggles. When I went to sit at my big wooden table to sign the guard files, I saw three huge silver boxes stacked right on top of my papers. Every single box had the royal stamp of the Crimson Moon Den burned into the wood."The delivery wolves brought it for you, Boss," Brandon said, his eyes going super wide with jealousy. "The Crimson Moon Den is the most famous eating place in the whole Alpha Council Corporate Circle! You have to be a high leader or have a million pack resources just to get a seat there. I cannot believe someone got them to bring royal food here so late in the dark.""For me?" I asked, my eyebrows bunching up. "Who sent it?"Brandon picked up a small piece of deer skin sitting next to the silver boxes and read the scratched words out loud. "It must be hard reading dead wolf bones so

"Take your hands off me, you crazy rogue wolf!" I yelled as the heavy iron carriage door slammed shut behind my heels. My inner wolf went completely wild with shock. I threw a massive punch right at his chest to back him off, but his heavy claws moved too fast. He grabbed my arm and locked it tight behind my back. His hot, smoky wolf breath blew right against my ear, and his sharp teeth grazed my skin."You are a coward for kidnapping a pack healer in the dark," I spat, struggling with all my might. But the more I thrashed, the tighter his heavy body pressed against my back, trapping me against his chest. His deep, magnetic growl rumbled right into my neck. "Are you calling the Supreme Alpha King a coward? Do you want to feel my power and find out?""How can I fight you when you have my paws tied up like a prisoner?" I snapped, rolling my eyes under my fake mask.He let out a low chuckle and freed my wrists. The second my hands were loose, I spun around and slammed a hard punch straig

Zanele Okafor"Your safety walls are too high, Ms. Okafor," Idris says, his eyes flashing with a dangerous wolf light. He lifts the corner of his lips into a scary smile. "What are you shaking for? Do you think my inner beast wants to tear something away from you?"My skin gets very tight and cold because his look feels like it is drilling straight into my soul.I finally see why the whole Alpha Council Corporate Circle says the Supreme Alpha King is a monster nobody can escape from. If his wolf marks you, you are trapped. I do not care about his royal power, I just want this dangerous man to stay far away from my hidden life. The thick oak doors swing open, and Lucien Nightfang bows his head low. "Alpha King, the fresh deer meat and wild berries are ready on the pack table.""Let us go eat, Ms. Okafor," Idris growls softly, his lips still curved up. "Come see how the Blackthorne Bloodmoon Pack cooks their hunt."I do not say no because my stomach is empty, so I follow his heavy foots

Idris Blackthorne"Take her to Zanele's Mooncrest Villa right now," Idris growls, throwing the car keys to a pack guardian. He looks down at a small piece of old skin in his big hand. It has my moon-link numbers scratched onto it.This female is a huge puzzle, Idris thinks, his silver eyes flashing dark in the corner. Amara loves her. Now Jabari Kane is acting like a soft pup around her too. Those two royal kids never bow to anyone but my alpha roar. Not even Magnus Wraith or the castle servants can stop their teeth. And my own inner wolf... it does not want to bite her either. Dammit.A heavy knock shakes the thick oak door of the Moon Council Chambers."Enter," Idris barks. His royal memory is too sharp, so he already has my numbers locked in his brain forever. But he does not burn the skin. He slides it deep inside his heavy stone desk instead.Kieran Ashford strides into the den, dropping his large frame onto the fur couch and crossing his long legs with a lazy grin."Alpha King,
