POV: Silver PrestonWoolsey Hall has been transformed again.I notice first the sound, which is different from the Winter Gala. Less string quartet formality. More warmth in it. Jazz, live, from somewhere near the back of the hall, the specific kind that fills the air without demanding attention.Then the lights.Not the fairy lights we hung together in November. These are different, warmer and gold, strung higher across the vaulted ceiling so the whole room glows from above rather than along the walls. The effect makes the Gothic arches look like something out of a different century.Woolsey Hall keeps revealing new versions of itself.That has become the kind of thing I think about now, probably because of literature seminars and Victorian poetry and a semester of being told that spaces and people contain more than their surface presentations.I step through the entrance.The room is already alive with the specific energy of a well-planned event hitting its stride.Yale students in f
