Dark smoke filled the sky and the ground shook as the Omegas fled, everyone heading to the exit at the same time. “We should leave now!” Leon said with urgency, tugging at the sleeves of Ezra’s clothes. But Ezra didn’t move. His eyes stayed on the origin of the smoke and without thinking, his legs started moving forward. “Ezra!” Leon called, following behind him with a frown. “You can’t go there” Ezra ignored him as he continued forward. The tents at the edge of the camp had collapsed into a burning heap. The acrid smell of burning nylon clawed at his throat as he drew closer, the heat prickling at his skin as the fire climbed. He pushed through the smoke and he heard it. Whimpers. “There are people there” he turned back, his gaze landing on Leon. “We can’t do anything” his gaze moved to the collapsed tent and the supplies it had taken with them. “We can’t leave them!” Ezra shouted.
