41. THE ALPHA’s APPROVAL

Ezra's head snapped towards Leon so fast that his neck cracked a little. He stopped walking, still in disbelief at the words he'd heard. Had Alpha Cage murdered the Alpha? "Why? Was he bad?" Alpha Cage stood over the hill that oversaw the outer grounds. He watched as the Omegas moved in an orderly fashion. Ezra's mouth snapped shut and heat rushed through him. "A-Alpha Cage" he stuttered, face turning red and Cage drew in closer, his lips brushing against his neck. The steady knocks on the door pulled them both out of their afternoon sleep. After a round at the edge of the camp, Cage had carried a half asleep Ezra and brought him back to the pack house.Cage was on his feet in an instant, grabbing his pants and marching to the door while Ezra rubbed the sleep away. 45. A SHADOW IN THE TREES

In the days that followed, the situation worsened. More refugees arrived like a storm. The camp that had been organized for only a few days turned into chaos. Leon and Ezra were doing their best in handling the situation but there was little they could do with the large number of refugees and very few resources. And worse, he had no access to Alpha Cage. Since the day he’d rushed out over a knock, Ezra had not set his eyes on him. His worry grew and the situation at hand only made things worse. More refugees only meant more attacks. "Alpha Cage" a voice came from the door and Cage looked up. "Slade. Your pack was supposed to arrive by dawn tomorrow" he rose from his chair and crossed over to the drink cabinet to pour himself one. His fingers rubbed the back of his neck in mild agitation.
