CALIX'S POV “Damn it,” I muttered, my fingers shaking as I pressed a damp beauty sponge against my neck. I was standing in front of the mirror in the Northcott locker room, early enough that the sun was barely up. In my left hand, I held a small tube of concealer I had practically stolen from a pharmacy down the street at 6:00 AM. I tilted my chin up, and a wave of self-loathing hit me so hard I felt sick. My chest, neck and collarbone were a complete disaster zone. Noah’s teeth and lips had left purple bruises that looked like paint splatters across my skin. They were raised and screaming his name. ‘Make sure your new girlfriend loves turtlenecks, Sinclair.’ His mocking words replayed in my head, making my jaw clench. “You fucking bastard,” I whispered to the empty room, aggressively dabbing the thick makeup over the darkest mark.
