Chapter 29The heavy rain continued to drum against the massive glass windows of the private study. The silver moonlight was cold, casting long, dark shadows across the rows of shifted history books. I stood perfectly still against the iron shelf, my breath coming in short, ragged gasps. My lips were still tingling and hot from the sudden, violent force of his kiss.Alistair stood by the window, his back turned to me. His massive shoulders rose and fell heavily as he forced his wild wolf back beneath his skin. The terrifying winter-storm pressure in the room slowly began to fade, locking away into his usual icy restraint.When he turned around, his face was once again a perfect, unreadable mask of marble.
