Sebastian I got to my feet immediately as I grabbed him by the collar, ignoring the fact that survivors needed our help.“How could you do that? How could you just kill her!?” I snapped at him as I grabbed his shirt even tighter, yet he didn't show a bit of remorse. He glanced at my bleeding arm, then at me and I let out a scoff of disbelief.“It's just a damn scratch—”“It hurt you.” He replied like he didn't care and I pushed him off, unable to believe that he actually killed a human, just like that.Just for a scratch.“She was grieving! Why do you lack empathy?” I asked in horror when he suddenly grabbed my hand and made me look at her.“It. Not she.” He replied and my brows furrowed when I finally noticed the black lines on her neck. “She was already bitten. She willingly gave her baby to the zombie. I spared her the pain of turning and harming you.”With that said, he let me go and my heart sank into my stomach.I had thought he was so inhumane when he was actually trying to pr

Sebastian “Look closely.” I muttered as Fred looked outside again with binoculars and then he finally gasped.“Oh, I can see them now— hold on, how did you notice them from afar off?” He asked in disbelief and I rubbed the back of my neck nervously.“I just noticed them, I guess?” I replied with a nervous chuckle that faded quickly when they finally came into view.My eyes widened in disbelief when they drew closer and Elio tapped my shoulder in confusion.“What's going on?” He asked and I swallowed hard, not knowing what to say to him.“Let's just say the government seemed to have noticed us.” I muttered and his eyes widened as well when he heard my words.“Those people seem to be wearing military uniforms. Do you think they're survivors?” Fred asked with the binoculars still over his eyes and I shook my head.Knowing that the government and military were working with whoever my rival was, they definitely didn't need surviving.“Stay here, I'll be back.” I muttered as I turned to le

Sebastian “What do you mean?” Ryder asked as he shifted his position so that he was facing me directly and I couldn't help but look away.“I mean… you once told me not to do everything it said. And you also spoke to it, which means you know something about it.” I muttered with a sigh as I ran my hand through my hair. “Just… tell me what you know.”He stared at the wall for a moment without saying a word, making me give up. What was I thinking? He surely didn't know anything about it.“Do you trust it? The system?” He finally spoke and I raised a brow at him. “Isn't that why you do everything it says and agree with it all the time?”My brows furrowed as I realized he was right. I trusted the system, no doubt. But something in me was telling me not to. Like everything felt too wrong because of it.“I don't know anymore.” I whispered even though I was one hundred percent sure it could hear me. “There are things that feel wrong. Things I don't remember. But I can't seem to doubt it, no m

Sebastian“He left the plant? When? How come I didn't see him leave?” I asked in confusion as I looked out the window once again but the street was empty. Was it when I was distracted because of Buis?“About an hour ago if I'm not wrong. He didn’t tell you?” She asked and when I didn't respond, her brows furrowed in confusion. “Weird. You guys are technically joined at the hip.”“No, we’re not!” I countered before I realized I just did that and she chuckled softly, shaking her head in amusement. “Dig in. He asked me not to leave your side until I'm sure you ate.”I felt embarrassed by that, but I was too hungry to complain, so I did as she said. She stared out the window as I ate until I was done, heaving out a sigh of delight as I leaned back into my chair.I felt alive again.“Gwen?” I called out and she turned to me with a smile. “You don’t need to do this again… I'm no special person. I’m a survivor just like everyone else.”“That’s not what everyone is saying.” she mumbled with h

Sebastian The system was silent for a moment after my question while I held my breath, waiting for an answer.Finding this anomaly and the infected survivor would end the apocalypse, but could it actually mean that we were gonna kill whoever it was?“Rest assured, Sebastian. There will be no spilling of blood.” Buis finally said and I let out a sigh of relief as I relaxed against the chair. “When you find the survivor, the next step will be revealed.”“As long as we're not killing whoever it is or sacrificing them… then it's all good.” I muttered with a yawn as I stretched gently, then stared at the empty blood vials. It was great to know that no one here was infected.“An infected survivor…” I mumbled under my breath as I held my hand over my chin. And then it hit me.“Jonah and Ronald?” I stood up immediately as those words left my lips, my eyes widening in realization.Their blood tests back then did show signs of an anomaly but I couldn't get accurate tests because their cells w
