MILES “Watch your step,” My words came out as a whisper because it felt wrong to speak at a volume above that. Once Kara and I had crossed the border, I led her to one of the entrances to the network of tunnels snaking under my pack. I knew these tunnels by the back of my hand, could navigate them with my eyes closed—which it felt like I was doing since there wasn’t even a glint of light to guide us. They were built to maintain the secret of our species once humans integrated into the town and it provided a reliable escape route if anything had to happen. The earthy notes of moss and wet soil lingered and the distant sound of dripping water echoed through the vast emptiness. Each footfall against the packed dirt under our feet reverberated down the long passage until it ebbed into a faraway murmur. “Do these tunnels go through the entire pack or only your half?”I might not have been able to see her face but an uncoordinated fool could catch her curiosity.“The entire pack,” My ha

KARAMy body was held at the mercy of Miles’s hand while my mind had drifted into another universe altogether. Delicious waves of energy danced to the heavy beat of my heartbeat over my skin, leaving goosebumps in their wake. Each wave of my orgasm had Miles’s name pouring from my lips—an offering for more, an acknowledgement of who exactly had my back bowing off the cool, hard granite countertop. I blinked rapidly to clear the stars glittering over my vision. If that was what he could do with his hand, what could he do with that other particular part of him?A pulse thrummed between my legs once more as I plummeted from my high, demanding to be satisfied—aching for him to slide into me and stretch me out. I didn’t think I could want someone as much as I wanted Miles in that moment. The sound of a belt buckle clattering as it became undone gripped my attention. My gaze zeroed in on Miles' imposing frame. Not imposing in the way that made you feel insignificant but imposing in a way

ORIONI watched as our betas filed out of the room, trudging and dragging their feet from exhaustion weighing down their frames. The door shut behind them with a dull click, abandoning me with my twin brother and our mate. I hadn’t seen Kara in two nights—two nights filled with agony and strife, filled with nightmares. My entire body sighed with relief, bones finally settling as tension oozed from them after worry held them hostage for so long. I gave Kara’s clean, slender frame another once-over just to calm my mind and remind myself that she was alive and well. “If anything happened to her, we would have felt it,” Diesel flippantly reminded me as if he wasn’t losing his shit for hours on end about her safety. “That’s not the point and you know it,” I called him out on his bullshit while keeping my face a placid mask, “I feel more complete with her near me. Fuck, how are we going to survive when she has to go run her own pack away from us?” “It will be difficult at first. We are

Kara Organised chaos. Every member of the pack shuffled around with purpose. Orders were thrown out, security tightened, and a team of wolves was specifically dedicated to distracting Alpha Percy while the pack navigated the new threat that was now being faced. I paused—only for a bittersweet moment—to bask in the warmth of the buttery glow the rising winter sun created. Miles had left at dawn with a group of men but not before he sent word to Saylor about his unexpected visitor. We were alerted soon after, throwing us into a pack that now functioned as a chaotic but somehow well-oiled machine. “I’m ready, let’s go,” Denver jogged up to me on huffing breaths. All the rushing around had beads of sweat coating his temples, “We should get on the road so we can reach pack territory before dark.”“As if it’s safe within our borders. You’ve heard what they can do. This pack has one of the best patrols I know of including surveillance cameras. Not even that could catch the things that en

MILES I had never seen the moon glow so brightly before, giving the clouds an almost pearlescent sheen. The inky waters of the sea raged below me, crashing against the cliff with the force of a wolf’s jaw locking onto his prey. I sat on my hind legs, wolf head tipped back as I unleashed a bellowing howl—a howl that was answered by the wolves lurking in the shadows of the forest. The claws of a chilly breeze carded through my fur, shifting the dark swirls as if they were shadows moving and cascading against the white. It was easy—even with my guard up and unshakeably in place—to fall into the tranquility nature provided. The scent of the pine trees. The sound of leaves rustling on a breeze. The taste of brine in the air from towering over dark waters of the ocean. It all settled in a precarious balance where the scales could tip dangerously at any given moment. A purr-like sound rumbled at the back of my throat—Timber’s way of agreeing with me wordlessly. We had been tied together fo
