VIOLETTAI woke up to the sound of my phone going off on my bedside table. We hadn’t gotten home until late at night after the charity game, and that was only because the boys had practically refused to let Cassian take me leave… Ollie was a little drunk to drive.Looking back on it now, I couldn’t help smiling.Don’t ask also, I won’t be telling how we had spent yesterday night, all you need to know is it was both fun and filled with banter.I loved the relationship Ollie had somehow managed to build with them in such a short time. It was good for both of us.He had always struggled to let people in, preferring to keep everyone at arm’s length after everything he’d been through.I saw how uncomfortable he became whenever he was around people who made it obvious they wanted to be my friend without her being involved. So without even realizing it, I’d begun keeping my own circle just as small. It didn’t help that most people dismissed him as weird or simply too talkative. The boys, h

CASSIANMaybe I was tripping but it seemed as though Red was trying to put some distance between us.An imaginary one because there was no fucking way I was letting that exist. She was starting to become an obsession.I found myself always wanting to be around her and the urge to help Logan relocate any part of his body so he could stop being a bother was overwhelming.A healthy obsession… Here I was, sitting in Nico’s truck with one arm resting lazily against the open window as I watched her from across the parking lot. When she texted me about a last minute lecture, I had thought she might end up finishing up late so I offered to wait for her to which she was quick to decline. Her reason? No one was going to be there so I shouldn’t bother.Who cared if anyone was watching? That line she thought was there had been inexistent from day one because I had always had my eye on her.She just never spared me a second glance.A message pulled my attention from her to see Nico’s taunting tex

CASSIANVioletta was still staring at me, waiting for an answer I honestly couldn’t give right now.Was this a date? When I had driven up to her department earlier, all I had thought about was spending more time with her… the movie part had only become a last-minute idea.I met her gaze and quickly put my game face back on.“It is…” I paused just long enough to watch anticipation flicker across her face. “…only if you want it to be.”Her eyes widened. She sat there speechless for a second before I broke character with a smirk, “I’m just kidding, Red.”I watched the glint in her eyes slowly fade before she smacked my shoulder lightly. “I don’t think I like you very much right now, Cassian.”Lie.“We are still watching the movie though, you can’t run away from me like this.”The disappointed look in her eyes was gone in an instant and replaced with defensiveness, “I don’t know what you want me to do Cassian.”She climbed out of the truck, and I shut the door behind her after grabbing he

VIOLETTAI tried so hard to keep my eyes on Cassian’s face and not on his lips, which were currently pulled into a frown as we argued. How did we even get here?True to his word, he hadn’t given me breathing space to which a part of me liked. He was there every morning to pick me up, waiting when I got off work, and somehow always around after my classes. Was this what love bombing felt like? Because I feared it was working. Not only had I gotten used to the little things he did for me, but I’d started waking up expecting to see him.It has become routine… the kind of routine I’d once hoped Logan and I would have. Realizing the glaring meaning was that scared me more than I cared to admit.Because somewhere between the fake kisses, the movie nights, the endless teasing, and him showing up without fail… I was beginning to feel something more.Except… we were just friends. That was all this was. Friends in a partnership that was helping us both. Nothing more.He looked at the page befor

VIOLETTAI waited for the gotcha moment like the other day…but it never came.I narrowed my eyes suspiciously, biting back the urge to ask whether he meant it as a real date or just a fake one.Instead, I asked, “What do you have in mind?”“Why do you even bother cupcake?” he scoffed. “You know for a fact I won’t be telling!”Cupcake? That’s a new one.“A hike?”“No.” He deadpanned.“Swimming?”“No but that’s a great idea for next time.”Let’s ignore the next part so I wouldn’t start overthinking about it and instead think of what kind of date-like activity can be done at night?Determined to get some kind of reaction out of him, I leaned closer and whispered, “Meeting your parents?”He almost stumbled over his own feet, “What the fuck Red?”“I don’t know! You won’t tell me anything.”He shook his head, laughing, “You ask too many questions. I’m not telling anything too so don’t bother yourself.”“Fine.” I huffed dramatically. My eyes caught a small food truck parked beside the studen
