[Eileen’s POV] I didn’t sleep again. Somewhere between the note and the footsteps outside my door, sleep had stopped being worth chasing. Wren found me still dressed when she came in with the morning tea, the parchment already gone, tucked deep inside a drawer where no one but me would think to look. “You look terrible,” she said, then winced. “My Luna.” “Rough night.” “Something happen?” “Something like that.” She didn’t push. She never did, not with me, and I was starting to understand that was rare in this palace. “There’s a household audience this morning,” she said instead, setting the tray down. “Petitions, disputes, that sort of thing.
