EVANGELINE The red was everywhere I looked. And I could feel it too. It was sticky, warm and soaking through the fabric. My hands shook as I touched it, expecting the pain as the panic struck me. "Oh my God," I gasped, my voice breaking. "I've been shot, I'm bleeding, I'm-" But I was interrupted when the man's voice cut through the panic. He sounded firm and calm despite the hell we'd just witnessed outside. "Stop." His hand caught mine before I could claw at my clothes. "You're fine. It's not your blood." I blinked at him, still shaking like a leaf that had been caught in a wild wind, but my ears rang too loud. I didn't believe him. The conviction was that the blood was literally dropping and soaking into my pants. I felt the hotness below, but there was no sting or severe pain that suggested a bullet had entered me. Despite that, my senses went berserk and I was shouting. "No, it's all over me-" He grabbed the edge of my ruined shirt and squeezed it hard. The blood dripped
