All Chapters of The Alpha I Left Behind: Chapter 1 - Chapter 10

Faye's POV:I went to the pawnshop in town and set the silver pendant Sebastian had given me five years ago down on the counter.Werewolves had an instinctive aversion to silver. When he first gave it to me, he had wrapped it in layers of black velvet before placing it in my hands. He'd said it was his mother's keepsake and told me to take good care of it.Now, it had been exchanged for seven crisp hundred-dollar bills. That would be enough to buy me a Silverhound Lines ticket to the West Coast and start a new life in some quiet seaside town where no one knew me.As I pushed open the pawnshop door, I ran into Mrs. Higgins coming out of the convenience store by the gas station at the edge of town. She carried a bag of household supplies and smiled the moment she saw me, her tone teasing. "I heard the Silverfang Pack's territory is as luxurious as some grand estate. You'll be moving there with Sebastian soon, won't you? So, why are you at the pawnshop?"The Sebastian she spoke of w

If Sebastian wanted to leave, be my guest. If Leo wanted to be close to someone else, that was his choice. I wouldn't dwell on it anymore."Mm." I nodded and turned to head inside, but Leo called out to me again."Mama!"This time, there was an edge of urgency in his voice.I thought he had something to say to me, so I looked back at him. His little face was still composed, but his eyes were bright. "Papa taught me how to control my claws today."I had already seen it.I was about to nod in acknowledgment when memories from the past surfaced. In the past, I would always ask Leo how his day went whenever he came home. Then, I would praise him enthusiastically for every little thing he learned. If he awakened a sharper sense of smell, I would tell him how amazing he was, how he could help me find my lost keys in the future.Every time, Leo would keep a straight face and say, "These are just the most basic instincts of a werewolf. Silly Mama, your bloodline is too weak. You'll

Alas, I hadn't expected that my recent indifference would make Sebastian think I was sulking."Faye, I know you're upset, but an Alpha's promise outweighs everything. Wait for me. Once I've fully taken control of the pack, I'll bring Leo back to get you."When I didn't respond, Sebastian merely frowned as he watched me continue stuffing his jacket into the suitcase. He gave me the exact same promise as in my previous life, but in a gentle tone. However, I wasn't going to spend years waiting in an empty apartment for that promise ever again."Mm. Okay. I know. I understand." I zipped up the suitcase, brushing him off as I spoke blandly. When he noticed that I had no intention of continuing the conversation, he turned even more silent. There was a look I couldn't decipher on his face. His sharp, invasive gaze lingered on me for a long moment before he finally turned and left.…Early the next morning, I was woken by the sound of engines outside the window. The moment I opened my

Since Faye was deliberately avoiding him, what was the point of them waiting any longer?Besides, his choice had been made the moment the Council of Elders had laid out their terms. The mate bond felt searing across his chest, but the responsibilities of an alpha weighed just as heavily.Leaving Faye in the human world, far from the blood-soaked power struggles within the pack's territory, was the only protection he had managed to secure for her in this bargain. He had believed she would understand.Sebastian clenched his fists, hiding the turmoil in his eyes. "Let's go."Leo rose from the steps. "Papa, aren't we waiting for Mama anymore?""We're not."Even so, Sebastian left behind a sterling necklace infused with his alpha scent on the dining table, along with a letter. If she ever found herself in danger, all she had to do was grip the necklace tightly. He would sense it no matter how far apart they were.He knew Faye. It would not even take three days for her to return. No

Faye's POV:When the first autumn rain fell, I opened a food truck in a small coastal town in Westiria. My cheese soup was delicious and inexpensive. Sure enough, I got myself a steady stream of regulars within three months. One of them, Mrs. Miller, always claimed that the arthritis she had suffered from for years would ease up for several days after having a bowl of my soup. I always assumed she was just being polite."Faye, one bowl of soup and a grilled cheese sandwich.""Coming right up."…After I sold the last serving of the day, I crossed the street to help Mrs. Miller pack up her stall at the farmers market. As I was leaving, she handed me a bundle of fresh rosemary. "Here. It came from my farm. It's for you."I accepted the herbs. The moment my fingers brushed the yellowing tips of the leaves, a few of them quietly unfurled.Mrs. Miller did not notice. She simply smiled and patted my hand.I thanked her anyway and slipped two dollars into her tip jar.As I turned
