All Chapters of Wet For Him: Chapter 21 - Chapter 30

The factory smelled of blood and smoke. I held Jace’s head in my lap as his breathing grew weaker. Blood soaked through my clothes. Marco shouted for the doctor we had brought. My father stood guard with the remaining men as distant sirens grew louder.“Stay with me,” I whispered repeatedly. “You cannot leave me now. Not after everything.”Jace’s eyes fluttered open for a moment. “Scar… love you…” Then he lost consciousness again. The doctor arrived and worked quickly. “We need to move him now. The bullet is close to his vital organs.”They carried Jace to a waiting van. I refused to leave his side. Marco drove while the doctor continued treatment in the back. My father followed in another car.The ride to the private clinic felt endless. I held Jace’s hand the whole way. I prayed to anyone who would listen. I had lost my mother. I could not lose him too.At the underground clinic the doctors took Jace into surgery immediately. I waited outside with my father and Marco. The waiting ro

I walked through the quiet streets while the sky turned from black to pale gray. My hands stayed inside my jacket pockets. The small knife Jace had given me pressed against my side. It was not much but it was something. The old bridge sat at the edge of the industrial area. Rust covered the metal rails. Water moved slowly underneath. No cars passed at this hour. The place felt empty and cold.I stopped at the middle of the bridge and waited. My breath came out in small white clouds. Every sound made me turn my head. A bird. The water. My own heartbeat.Footsteps finally came from the other side. Lucian appeared with two men. Between them stood Emma. Her hands were tied. Her face looked pale and tired but her eyes found mine immediately.“Scarlett,” she said. Her voice shook.I took a step forward. “I am here. Let her go.”Lucian smiled the same cold smile I had seen too many times. “You came alone. Good. That shows intelligence.”“Release her first,” I said. “Then we talk.”He tilted

I sat at the table long after the others had gone quiet. The piece of paper with the empty address still lay in front of me. My father stood by the window with his arms crossed. Jace rested on the couch but his eyes stayed open and sharp. Marco had left to gather more information. No one spoke for a long time. Finally my father broke the silence. “Adriana was always the smartest of us. Even when we were children she planned three steps ahead. If she is alive then she has been preparing for years.”I looked at him. “Why would she hide for so long?”“Power,” he answered simply. “And revenge. I left the life. Victor chased power in the open. She chose the shadows. That makes her more dangerous than both of us.”Jace shifted carefully. The movement still caused him pain but he refused to show it fully. “We need to find out about the son. A nephew changes everything. If he is loyal to her then we have another enemy who knows our blood.”I felt the weight of those words. Another relative I

I woke before the others. The safe house was still quiet. Soft light came through the curtains. Jace slept beside me on the narrow bed. His breathing was steady but I could see the tension in his face even in rest. The wounds were healing too slowly for the danger we faced.I sat up carefully and watched him for a long moment. The feelings inside me had grown complicated. Fear. Need. Something deeper that I was still afraid to name fully. He had taken me against my will. He had also protected me with his life more than once. The line between those truths kept blurring. My phone lay on the table. No new messages. The silence from the nephew felt heavier than the threats from Adriana. When Jace woke he reached for my hand immediately. “You are already thinking too hard.”“We have less than two days,” I said. “Emma is still there. Adriana is waiting for my answer.”He sat up slowly. Pain crossed his face but he ignored it. “Then we use the t

I stared at the man standing on the dark platform. The resemblance was impossible to ignore. The shape of his eyes. The line of his jaw. Even the way he held his shoulders reminded me of my father.“You look like us,” I said.Elias gave a small nod. “That tends to happen with family. Even the ones who were never meant to be known.”I kept my distance. “Why contact me? Why go against your mother?”“Because her plan will destroy more than it builds,” he answered. “She wants the old power structure back. She is willing to burn every remaining family to get it. I have watched her for years. I disagree with the cost.”The wind moved through the open station. A distant train horn sounded far away.“Where is Emma?” I asked.“Still alive. Still under heavy watch. Adriana plans to move her again tomorrow night if you do not give an answer. The new location will be harder to reach.”I felt the familiar pressure in my ches
