All Chapters of Wet For Him: Chapter 41 - Chapter 50

The hallway felt narrower with every second. Three professionals blocked the front exit. The man from the clock tower stood slightly behind them as if the violence about to happen did not concern him. Jace kept his weapon steady. I stayed close to his side. Our third man was still missing, which meant the odds had already shifted against us.The lead professional spoke again. “Put the guns down. We only need the girl. The rest of you can walk away.”Jace’s answer was immediate. “That will not happen.”The man sighed as if the response was expected and inconvenient. Then the first shot came from our left. Our missing team member had not been taken. He had circled through a side room and opened fire from an angle they had not covered. Chaos broke open in the confined space.Jace pulled me down and returned fire. The sound was deafening between the walls. One of the professionals dropped. The other two scattered for cover. The man from the clock tower moved with surprising speed toward

The recorded message left no room for delay. Emma was at the new address. We had until midnight. After that the price of her life would rise and the next buyer would take control. Someone had watched us move from the intermediary’s apartment and had chosen to push us forward rather than stop us.We treated the information as both opportunity and trap. The address sat on the far side of the city in a district of older private estates. High walls. Limited public access. The kind of place that favored those who preferred to keep their business unseen.Jace laid out the approach with hard clarity. “We do not have time for days of surveillance. We go in prepared for resistance and prepared for another empty room. Two teams. Fast confirmation. Faster extraction if she is there.”My father studied the limited map we had pulled together. “The walls will slow us. The rear boundary sits against an open drainage channel. That may be the weakest point.”Marco, still not fully recovered, handled c

We left the apartment before the sun fully cleared the buildings. Emma stayed between me and Jace as we moved down the narrow stairs to the waiting cars. My father drove the lead vehicle. Marco followed with the remaining supplies. The streets were still thin with early traffic. Every set of headlights that lingered too long behind us drew a second look. The new location sat outside the main city grid, a low private house surrounded by high hedges and a single access road. My father had used an old contact to secure it for a short window. It was not permanent. Nothing was anymore. But the walls were solid and the sight lines were better than the apartment we had left.Once inside, we cleared every room out of habit. Emma watched us move with quiet attention. She no longer flinched at sudden sounds the way she had the night before, but the caution in her eyes remained.I settled her in the smaller bedroom with a clear view of the side garden. She sat on the edge of the bed and looked a

The rural house stayed quiet through the night. Fields stretched away on three sides into darkness. The single access road was watched without pause. No vehicles appeared. No new messages arrived. The silence Victor Hale had promised felt deliberate and heavy.I slept in short intervals on the downstairs couch with a clear view of the hallway that led to Emma’s room. Jace took the chair near the front windows and did not pretend to rest. Every so often I woke to find his eyes still open and fixed on the dark beyond the glass.Morning came without incident. Emma rose early and joined me in the small kitchen. She moved with more energy than the day before. The worst of the exhaustion was lifting, replaced by a restless need to do something useful.“I want to learn the watch schedule,” she said as she poured coffee. “I can sit with a radio and keep eyes on the road.”I studied her for a moment. The girl who had once worried about school deadlines now asked for a place in the security rot

Tobias’s vehicle did not slow until the last possible moment. It cut across the open grass and stopped hard between our group and Hale’s car, throwing up a spray of wet earth. The driver’s door opened at once. Tobias stepped out alone. No additional men followed. He carried himself with the same controlled calm he had shown at every previous encounter, but his eyes moved quickly between Hale, Emma, and me.The airfield felt suddenly smaller.Hale’s protection stepped forward half a pace. Hale himself did not move. His expression remained measured, though the arrival clearly had not been part of his plan.“This is a private discussion,” Hale said.Tobias ignored him and looked at me. “Adriana sends her regards. She also sends a correction. The girl is not available for resale. She was never cleanly released from our interest.”Jace shifted closer to Emma and me. My father adjusted his position to cover a wider angle. Marco remained with the rear vehicle, but I knew he had already adjus
