Chapter twenty one

What shocked Neil the most was that he hadn’t realized that anything could be wrong with Avira at the time. Then the doctor suggested that she might have tried to commit suicide. Her records up to her disappearance showed no antidepressant usage. If her doctor at the time had believed she was suffering from postnatal depression, he should have prescribed medication to mitigate it. It was possible, too, that her doctor simply hadn’t recognized the signs. And knowing how weak her wolf was, Avira would have been more vulnerable to the effects of the hormones on her body without medication. Neil didn’t quite know what to make of all the information, but as he reached the nursery, he firmly shoved thoughts of Avira aside. All he wanted right now was to hold his daughter and spend time watching her toddler antics. Neil pushed open the door and went into the room that was overflowing with toys and everything Rosie could ask for. “Malia,” he called, but no one answered. He went into the nu

Avira did Not want them to go, and yet she knew there was nothing she could do to stop Neil from taking Rosie away. She didn’t even try to. When they had walked in her room hours ago, the lady with her had hit her with a question that left her startled. “You are her mother?” Avira stood there stunned unable to say a word. It was a statement more than a question. Her daughter looked exactly like her. “I am sorry if I overstepped. My name is Malia,” She outstretched her free hand while holding Rosie with one hand. “Malia Callister, I am Neil’s sister.” “Ohh! Neil…I didn’t know he had a sister,”. Avira replied and took her hand. “And no need for the apology, I am her mother.” Malia sat down on the couch and smiled as she took her seat. “She looks like you. I don’t know if you remember but I was at your mating and wedding ceremony.” “My memory is a little bit fuzzy, so I apologize for not recognizing you.” “That’s fine.” Malia replied and looked down at Rosie who was tu

Sharon had been busy making plans with her father on everything they had to do to make sure Neil’s lost Luna was never accepted. “Is that all I will have to do?” She asked her Dad. “Yes,” he replied. “And tame that temper of yours it will do you no good.” She nodded quietly. “What about the circle of elders?” “I will handle them,” he said in a brisk tone. “So I just need you to tame your angry other half and stick exactly to what we have planned out.” She nodded. “Use your words Sharon Calvert!” He snapped. She avoided his eyes. “I will.” “You had better or you will lose him forever.” He warned. Just then a knock came in. She knew who it was before he stepped in to the office. “Speak.” Her father ordered. “Alpha Neil is at the airport right now.” Drago replied. Sharon’s ears twitched in excitement when she heard the news and she jumped up to her feet. “You can leave.” Immediately after Drago left. Alpha Calvert turned to his daughter who was alre

Another hour passed before a servant brought her dinner. She ate alone, then took her coffee and went out onto the balcony that overlooked the gardens below. The sun had set recently, so the night breeze was a little bit warm. She stared at the pool longingly. Moonridge glittered like a jewel in the dusk. Beautiful cars crowded the city in the distance, and the many forest around made everywhere feel like a Disney rated city. Her father had a home, along the evergreen forest farther from here. It had a spring water that was surrounded by beautiful species of flowers planted by her mother. Apart from the bullying and neglect she had as a child, she had loved growing here. She gulped her coffee in one take as the night darkened, then took moon shining beautifully in the sky. She pulled off her everything everything she was putting on and dived in to the pool. The warm water did wonders and she laid on back lazily. She didn’t know how long she stayed like that but then she sensed tha

Neil was startled by her action. But he knew he wanted this more than anything. She might not feel the bond yet but he did and it was driving him crazy. She was his mate and no matter how angry he was all he thought about was her. His hesitation made her pull back.“I’m sorry. I don’t know…..”She paused looking unsure of what.“Damn Avira!” Neil muttered as he pulled her even closer. There was no buildup, no mental debate as she wondered if her desire would catch. Everything about this woman turned his switches on. All she had to do was touch him. His hips tilted, seeking more intimate contact with her naked body. He found her lips. Avira didn’t hesitate to let him in. She was just as eager as he was for the kiss. She let her head fall back and he met her open mouth with his own, moaning of how wrong this was, but he wanted it so badly. Her hands eased up his bare chest and rose to stroke over his shoulders blades as he swooped his hands over the small of her back. That was it. He p

Neil knew that he was taking a risk and yet he convince himself that it was the only solution. When he had carried Rosie back to the nursery, the child crying all the way because she wanted the lady to sing for her, Neil had realized that he could not undo what he had done. Not only that, but perhaps he had been wrong to try and keep Avira away from Rosie. His own sister had told him so.“Do not do that again!” He had growled at her after Rosie was put to bed. “Take a child to her mother. Come on brother.” Malia growled back at him. “She is not Rosie’s mother.”“Rosie looks exactly like her, Neil.” She pointed out. “Give her a chance to redeem herself.”“Redeem her self of what?” Neil argued and his tone with Alpha mode, icy and cold. “Do not ever take Rosie to Avira, I won’t warn you again.”“Yes Alpha!” She muttered, her head bowed. She knew when to stop with Neil. He might be her brother but he was also an Alpha and Alpha’s do not like to be challenged. After walking off and f

Avira stared at him for a moment, unable to believe what she was hearing. She let out a chuckle as she tied the robe tightly. “What lover?” “The one at the club.” “Thiago is just a friend.” “Is that what you call him?”Neil sneered. “What else should I call him?” His jaw tightened and the memory of how he had hugged her so tightly made him so angry. “I don’t care what you call him. You are not going to bring another man into Rosie’s life while you are staying under my roof.” A bitter laugh escaped her. “Your roof?” “Yes.” “You brought me here, told me I cannot tell my own daughter that I am her mother, and now you want to decide who I am allowed to speak to?” His eyes narrowed. “I am protecting my daughter.” “And I am trying to protect mine.” The words came out before she could stop them. Of course Rosie was also her daughter. Silence filled the room. Neil’s expression changed only for a split second. Avira knew something in her words had reached him

Thiago had just returned from the club after the night’s activities, when he got a frantic call from Patrick. “What?” Patrick asked, his stomach sinking. “You are saying Avira is in a hospital?” “It seems so,” Patrick said. “A friend of mine who works at Moonridge biggest hospital, told me that she was rushed in after she collapsed. After you told me you would be going to Moonridge I had asked him to get any informations on Alpha Neil and also sent him a picture of Avira. He said she was on oxygen and it didn’t look promising at all.” Good God, this couldn’t be true. Thiago’s head was throbbing and he didn’t know how to process the news. What had he done to her? What had he done that had required her to be on oxygen? “Which Hospital?” He wondered why she hadn’t called him all day not knowing she was struggling for her life. Did he torture her? But for what reason exactly? “She’s in the Moonridge biggest hospital. She is in a VIP room and all the floors had been cleared of other

Avira was on Neil’s mind the entire day. Even as he sat in the presence of the elders council. All he thought about was her. He had broken her with his words. Even though the doctor told him otherwise, that it was just the fact that she was digging too deep into her memories that is what trigger her whole body to collapse he knew his words had done that. He had pushed her to the limit.“Alpha Neil?”At the sound of the elders calling his name, he jolted out of his thoughts. “Sorry. You wee saying something?”“We were. But it seem that only your body is here right with us.”The elder speaking to him was right about that. Neil’s mind was several miles away, back at the hospital were Avira lay almost lifeless…”What were you saying?”“We were asking for the reason you postponed the coronation.”“I had to, there is something I would need some time to work on.”“Is it the sudden return of your dead Luna.” Another elder asked.Neil felt an odd sensation pass over him at the way he said it.

Neil began at the nape of her neck, nuzzling the little indentation at the top of her spine, then running his tongue downward, touching each vertebra as he went. Avira shivered and buried her face against the feather pillow. Neil's big hands skimmed her hips, slightly rough against her smooth skin. He trailed his fingers down one thigh, behind one knee, down her calf.finally, he coaxed her onto her back and studied her. Her face was lovely, her cheeks heightened a dusty rose hinted at her own arousak. Her dark olive hair was rich and glowing, the color of ripened wheat, wisps framing her face, loose tendrils brushing against gently sloping shoulders. Her skin seemed to glow. She was perfect in every way. Each curve, each swell, looked as though a master artist had sculpted it.Avira’s eyes flustered open as Neil scooter upward on the bed and covered her mouth with his. It was the kind of kiss that women only dreamed of, the kind they could sink their hearts into. She closed her ey
