All Chapters of Obsessing Over My Ex-Wife: Chapter 1 - Chapter 10

Jolene's POV“You don't have to keep pretending we're in love,” Brian murmured, his smile never slipping as the camera flashes continued coming from every corner of the room.“I'm only doing my job as your wife,” I replied just as softly, smoothing the front of his tie while forcing a smile for the paparazzi.“Just stop it, please,” he said, his lips curving wider for the photographers.“Okay.”I mouthed the word, barely letting my lips move.“Mr. and Mrs. Whitmore! Over here!”“One more picture!”“Aww… They look so in love.”I almost laughed. If only they knew. The man standing beside me hadn't shared a room with me in three years. The only time he ever touched me was when there was an audience watching. And tonight was no different. This was the Whitmore Group anniversary charity gala, one of those perfect occasions where we had to put on our little show for the world. To everyone watching, Brian and I were the perfect couple. But I knew better.I could still feel the tension in his

Brian's POV“Open the door.”I banged angrily. There was absolute silence at the other end of the door.I banged again, knowing fully well that she was in there and she could hear me.“Jolene !”When the door finally fell open, my eyes went over her for a moment. Her eyes were red, her face pale as though she had just cried before coming out here.I threw that to the back of my mind, definitely not why I came here.“What’s gotten into you?” I said, the words bursting out of me in fury.“Seems you’ve forgotten all of your responsibilities, huh… do I need to remind you what your duties are in this house?”She just stared at me…No words of defense, no apology. My voice dropped into something colder, “Answer me when I talk to you!” I said through gritted teeth. Then calmly, she said. “I’m sorry for all the trouble I caused you and your family this morning.” And when she said it, she wasn’t looking down and dropping tears like she used to.“Soon enough, you won’t have to worry about me.”

Brian's POVI couldn't speak or even wrap my head around what the hell I was seeing. For a moment, I actually thought my mind was playing tricks on me. I hadn't seen her in a year, and maybe... this was just my subconscious getting the best of me. But as she moved through the crowd, greeting guests one after the other, I realized this was real. Her smile was bright. Her eyes were filled with so much light. It felt like my legs were actually glued to the ground because I could not move. My heart was racing so fast. How exactly was this possible? It made no sense.Jolene, the same woman I had been married to for three years.No.I shook my head, still trying to convince myself that I wasn't seeing what was clearly before me. It was stupid, but I was still in so much denial. She greeted most of the guests, carrying herself with so much grace, so much elegance. And when she got to where I was, I almost reached for her but quickly lowered my hands."Jolene," I called her name, and she just

Jolene’s POVI scoffed, a small tired laugh escaping my lips. “Here we go again!” This kind of thing never bothered me, mostly because I knew there were desperate folks all around the town trying to get my attention. But the fact that he has my private number is something that dropped worry in my heart. Looking down at my undelivered messages, I just selected everything and deleted it. I’m too exhausted to deal with any asshole right now. I collapsed onto my bed, feeling the weight of the night and every gaze from the event heavy on me. I had acted as though I was confident and I knew exactly what I was doing, but deep down, my heart was pounding like crazy under those countless pair of eyes. Especially Brian’s. I had spent months practicing. In fact, I was certain I was ready for it. But the moment I took the first step down the stairs, I realised that practice and reality were stark different. For a moment, I just kept staring up at the bright ceiling adorned with fancy lig

Jolene’s POV“Can you help me with another favour?” I asked.“Sure ma… Miss Beaumont.” He corrected quickly. “I’m at your service.” “Now that you know his location, I need you to help me get a picture of the culprit. I need to know who I’m dealing with.” He nodded. “On it!” “Thank you.” I said to his retreating figure. The landline in the office buzzed. “Miss Beaumont, the Legal team is waiting.” Lily informed. I put my laptop to sleep and made my way out of the office, closing the glass doors behind me. I let out a heavy sigh, straightening my posture before making my way further into the hallways and then towards the elevator. The meeting was very brief as they had said. Thankfully. The moment I got to my office, I grabbed a bottle of orange juice and poured it into a glass cup till it was half full. It was so refreshing, too much that I down it all once. I somehow didn’t realise I was that tasty. Anyways, I continued to attend to the files on my desk, reviewing them one
