The gathering was already in full swing by the time Montserrat arrived. She had known her father was lying, going by his definition of small. This wasn't anything small. This was the kind of business meeting where everyone knew everyone. She wouldn't be shocked if Camille was here as well, and... No need to mention him. She'd already seen his family's cars lined up by the entrance. He was here.Soft music played in the background, soothing enough to blend into the conversations. The lighting in the room cast a warm glow, everyone was equally dressed to impress. Waiters moved between them with trays of champagne, making sure no glass stayed empty for long. It would be impossible, given how quickly they were being emptied.Montserrat stepped inside with her family, immediately drawing a few familiar glances.Across the room, Aaron noticed her. His hand paused around the stem of his wineglass. He couldn't steer his eyes away. It had been two weeks since he last saw her, and still his bre

"I hope you don't mind that I took you away from Rebecca."Aaron glanced over at Rebecca before looking back at her."I don't mind at all. There was nothing..."They walked farther away from the main gathering, stopping in a quieter part of the venue. The music and conversations around them had faded enough that they could speak without anyone overhearing.Montserrat turned to him. "I wanted to ask you something. I actually hope you don't mind since this isn't the exact place and timing for that."Aaron waited for her to speak. He had no issues with it."It's about the investment you made in my restaurants."His brows lifted slightly. "The investment?""Yes."She kept her voice calm and professional, giving nothing away about why the question had been on her mind."I recently found out that you invested twenty-five million dollars into my restaurants. I wanted to understand why."Aaron was quiet for a moment. "Okay." He glanced away briefly before looking back at her. "That was before

Montserrat spent the rest of the afternoon buried in work. By the time she finally looked up from her desk, she realized it was already past five. Her eyes remained on the time for a moment as Daniel's words from earlier came back to her. She had told him she would think about attending his restaurant opening, and she had spent more time than she wanted to admit actually considering it.Eventually, she picked up her bag.She wasn't going because of Daniel. She simply didn't see any reason to completely disregard the invitation, especially when it was still business. At least, that was what she told herself as she walked out of the office. She got into her car and drove to Daniel's restaurant, arriving a little after five. There were already several cars parked outside, and the place looked considerably different from the last time she had seen it.The entrance had been beautifully decorated, with flowers arranged along the walkway and warm lights illuminating the building. Through the

Montserrat stood in front of her father's home office, her hand hovering over the door handle.Just as she was about to open it, she heard footsteps approaching from behind. She stopped and slowly lowered her hand.Daniel came into view, and the moment he got close enough to speak, he looked at her."Montserrat, about last night—""I don't want to be reminded of it," she cut in immediately.Daniel nodded, his face becoming serious."I know you don't want to be reminded of it. I just want to apologize. I'm sorry I couldn't hold myself back or resist the moment you were close to me. I am deeply sorry."Montserrat said nothing."I'm really trying my best to hold back my feelings for you," Daniel continued. "But every time I see you, they only seem to get stronger."Montserrat finally looked at him."Focus on what my father has to say to you. That's all I want you to do."Before Daniel could respond, she opened the door and walked inside. Her father looked up from his desk, and a smile im

"If anyone had told me you'd be dressing up like that tonight, I wouldn't have believed them," Camille said, her eyes wide as she took in Montserrat's outfit. "Honestly, wow." "I helped her pick out the dress," Angela chimed in proudly. Camille turned to her with a skeptical look. "No, you did not. Not until I put her in it!" "Well, I helped," Angela insisted, holding her hands up in defense. "I helped!" Montserrat wore a silver, fitted mini dress with a slit that rode up to her mid-thigh, paired with black strappy heels and a small purse. She had her hair styled down and was complemented by simple jewelry. "So, who are you trying to impress?" Sabrina asked, looking Montserrat up and down. Camille opened her mouth to answer, but Montserrat stepped in quickly. "Nobody. This is just me trying to enjoy myself." Camille nodded in agreement, giving Montserrat a knowing look. "Right. We are here to enjoy ourselves. Which is why we chose Carlos's club, who so happens to be—" M
