“I’ve been watching Ry to figure out what she could specialize in. Until you said that, I didn’t understand. She literally absorbs emotions. Looking back, she kept Chris and me calm and focused during that challenge. She is absorbing their anger right now. Everyone is happy and enjoying themselves.” “Where does it go?” Zayne asked. He was getting frustrated. “I don’t know. Maybe that’s why she is so good at shutting her emotions off, or why she is quick to anger?” “They just go away.” I whispered to Zayne. “Maybe they just vanish.” Zayne felt defensive. “Hopefully. My concern is tomorrow. If she can absorb this, what else will she absorb?” Standing up, a few guys nodded, but it wasn’t a production as I walked up to Jim. I know I have the attention of every ranking member, but my focus was on Jim. “I don’t even know I’m doing it.”“You don’t understand magic and didn’t know before what this means.” Jim frowned.“Can I absorb anything else?” I asked, a thought was forming in my m

Fuck. My body was literally steaming. My legs were shaking, but I heard a pop. “Riley.” Justin walked around to look at me. Nathan was right behind him, looking me up and down. “Justin, get the bullet out of my hip.” His eyes went down before they widen. “Here.” Nathan pulled a first aid kit as Justin knelt down. Grabbing the chains, Sierra was pulling herself back up. A long pair of tweezers got handed over. “Sorry.” Justin didn’t show any mercy as he plunged them in. “Drink this.” Nathan shoved something in my mouth. “Just makes you heal faster.” It burned like a bitch, but I felt the effects almost instantly. “Got it!” The nerve pain was gone. Sierra was pissed. Grabbing the chains, she let out a growl and ripped them from the walls. “I could have just uncuffed you.” Nathan grabbed the key and got to work.“Plan?” I asked, looking at Justin. “No change. Find you and save you. Let you do you and kill everyone.” Grabbing Nathan, I shoved him against the wall. “What the fuck

“He isn’t dead.” “He isn’t here.” Sierra pushed back. “Tiffany and I agreed. We will mark you if anything happens to Zayne. We will save you.” “Assuming you catch me.” Sierra raised an eyebrow. “Zayne told me to. He told me by any means, I was to make sure you lived, made sure you didn’t lose your emotions. Even if I have to mark you now.” “Look at you making sacrifices. Having to welcome another girl into your bed every night.” Nox glared at me. “Baiting me won’t work.” “You already told me you can’t handle me. Don’t want to participate in the blood. We could never work.” “Meet me halfway.” Nox walked forward and put his hands on the chair. His face got inches away from mine. “Don’t kill Riley. Let’s see how things play out with Zayne. Give her some control so she can run this pack. The warriors need to know she has their backs after this war.” I saw his eyes look at my lips and then at my eyes. He was fighting with himself. Closing his eyes, his jaw was tightly shut. Pushin

“I have to say. That white hair is really doing it for me.” Zayne was leaning against the doorframe of the bathroom. His black jeans were hanging off his hips, slate gray athletic shirt was tight enough to show everything and his hair teasing his eyes. Damn if he didn’t look fucking sexy. I was finishing up curling my hair. Tiffany wanted to go out to a bar and play pool. It has been two weeks since everything happened. Silas’s pack got leveled, and I was giving it to Nathan to build our family up again. Next week, the four of us were going to track down the rest of my family members that were alive. Everyone had gone back to their packs. We were truly at peace. The walking trail was getting installed. The playground for the orphanage just got put up yesterday, and Sierra never moved. She was watching, but that was it. I felt nothing but happiness the last week. The four of us have gotten closer. Nox had gotten comfortable kissing my cheek, and Zayne never cared. He acted like it

Three months later“What’s up?” Tiffany and I walked into Zayne office. He and Nox were looking over some reports. “I need to go to Alpha Trent’s funeral.” “When is that?” I frowned. “Tonight.” Zayne was watching me, not really giving anything away. “I’m supposed to go south for the dedication to my family. Jim has been working on this for two months. He even found more people to come.” I felt the sting that he was choosing a funeral over this. “I know, but Trent was like a second dad to me.” Zayne walked over to me. “You know I want to go and support your family. I just cannot not go to the funeral either. Maybe I can fly to you right after?” Slapping his hand away, I just took a few steps back. “No. It’s fine, Zayne. Go to the funeral.” “Come on, Riley. I feel shitty enough about this. Tiffany asked to go to. She has been working on the orphanage thing and Trent was helping.” Crossing my arms, I just raised my eyebrow at her. “Ah, you know it’s not like that.” She took a ste
