Done Being Nice to My Leech Roommate のすべてのチャプター: チャプター 1 - チャプター 10

On the same night I set things up, I feigned sleep. The dormitory was so dark with the lights off that I couldn't see my hand in front of my face.I closed my eyes and counted my breaths. At half past two in the morning, I heard a creaking sound from the upper bunk of the bunk bed across from me.Mona had gotten out of bed.First, she stood barefoot before her own desk for a short while. Then, she walked toward me.She didn't knock anything over, kick any chairs, or bump into any bedframes. For someone who couldn't even keep her own space tidy, she was incredibly surefooted in the night. She stopped in front of my desk and opened the drawer with a faint creak. She then reached a hand in and felt around. It wasn't my money she found but June's wallet. She didn't hesitate or open the wallet to check its contents. Instead, she immediately tucked it away. Then, she turned and walked toward Rosa.I held my breath and kept my eyes on my phone screen. The red recording icon was

The next day, a post on an anonymous message board caused a huge stir.Mona had made a tearful post with a provocative title on it."My dormmate is clearly aware of my family's financial difficulties, yet she conspired with others to frame me for theft. I'm almost at my limit."In the post, she painted herself as a pitiful student who had been ostracized by her entire dormitory. On the other hand, she portrayed me as someone who was "incredibly manipulative and looked down on others just because she was well-off" and "spearheaded the exclusion of underprivileged students".Every single word struck precisely where it hurt most. The comments section quickly got behind her."What a scary dormmate. That's some major jealousy.""Underprivileged students already have enough on their plate without being bullied on top of it. Has she no conscience?""I suggest that you report this directly to a school counselor. We can't let people like her continue to get away with this.""Didn't so

I hadn't checked my phone since returning from Ms. Lewis' office.Mona was in the dorm room, but she remained curled up in bed and didn't dare look my way.She assumed that everything that happened in the office would be the last she heard of the matter, but she was wrong. That night, I sat at my desk and unlocked my phone.I'd already backed up three copies of the video a while ago.I had one copy saved on my phone, another in cloud storage, and a third sent to Ms. Lewis.I tapped on the dormitory group chat to bring up the chat window. My finger hovered over the "send" button for two seconds. Then, I pressed it.In the instant I hit the button, my finger was perfectly steady. For a whole ten seconds, the group chat was dead silent.Nobody spoke or recalled my text.June was the first to say, "Holy cow."Rosa sent out a long string of exclamation marks. Then, Shannon showed up as well."Natalie, why did you send this? Hurry up and recall it. Don't blow up the situation,"

The school authorities quickly stepped in to handle the situation between Mona's family and me.Security personnel invited us all to Ms. Lewis' office. The office wasn't particularly large, so after packing seven to eight people into the limited space, a heavy tension fell over the room.As soon as Mona's family were all seated in a row, their attitudes visibly softened. The aggression they showed at the school gates before was completely gone.Mrs. Joyce wiped away tears and started trying to appeal to Ms. Lewis' emotions."Ms. Lewis, it's all a misunderstanding. Children fall out with each other all the time. All they need is to talk it out. Will it do if we just compensate her with a bit of money and apologize? Mona's still young, so please don't put this on her record. She still needs to take her postgraduate exam."Ms. Lewis pushed a stack of documents across the table to her and explained, "This is the list of losses incurred, a video recording, an audio recording, and a r

After Mona's departure, the dormitory became much quieter overall.June and Rosa sat on the edge of my bed, but neither of them initiated a conversation.Sunlight shone through the window, illuminating the floorboards. After a long while, June finally said quietly, "Natalie, I'm sorry. I always used to say that you should cut Mona some slack because you were doing well for yourself. I now understand that I wasn't advocating magnanimity but generosity at someone else's expense."I could hear a faint tremor in her voice.Rosa also chimed in with her head lowered, "I'm also sorry. I used to advise you to exercise tolerance, because I wasn't the one feeling the pain. When your things were stolen, we didn't think much of it. Yet, when it was our turn to be the victims, we finally realized how infuriating it was."I smiled and replied, "It's all in the past now."June looked up with slightly teary eyes. "I was wondering just the other day—if it had been my tablet that Mona stole that
