Mary Ann “Maan” Perez resigned from her work as an office secretary in their province to apply as a Customer Service Representative (call center agent) in Manila. After receiving a message from her prospective employer for a scheduled interview, she decided to contact her cousin to tell her to fetch her at the bus terminal in Manila for she will be staying with them for a week. Unfortunately while on her way to Manila, her cousin Joan, had an emergency to attend to and would not be able to fetch her. Instead Joan’s cousin from her mother's side of the family came to fetch Maan. Virgil ‘Gil” Velasco (Joan’s cousin) who lives in his own apartment brought Maan to his house with an agreement that Joan will be fetching Maan that day. Later that day, Joan called to inform them that she could not fetch Maan because her mother is suspected to have contracted COVID-19 and needs to be under observation for at least 14 days and if it wasn’t bad news enough, an announcement was made that night that the government decided to put National Capital Region (NCR) and the entire Luzon under lock down. Going in and out of the area is prohibited for 1 month!Locked in together for a month, will they catch the virus called love and start a romance or will it end when the lock down ends?

Hi! This is Ms.Jenny Ong from ASBC Alabang. We received your resume and you are invited for an interview on Monday March 16, 2020 at 8:00 in the morning. Please come in business attire with your pertinent documents and look for Ms. Yna Gomez of the HR Department. See you!
“Yes!” Maan was ecstatic after reading the message.
She has been jobless for almost two months now after resigning for work as an office secretary in a small company in her hometown. She thought of applying as a call center agent in Manila so she could make use of her Communication Arts course which she is a graduate of. After four years in her old job, she got tired of just simply writing business letters.
She immediately texted her cousin Joan from his father’s side of the family that she already has a scheduled interview on Monday from the company located near their place. They have already talked about it that she will be staying in her cousin’s house once she gets news of her application in Manila. She composed a message for her cousin.
“ Jo, can you fetch me at the bus terminal tomorrow. It’s been a long time since I went to your house and I couldn’t remember it anymore.”
My father and Joan’s father are brothers. My dad is older than my uncle and I am just a few months older from Joan. It has been three years since we last visited their house on Christmas Eve.

“ Okay Couz! I’ll see you tomorrow at the terminal just tell me if you are on the way so I can get ready by then. We could go to Mall of Asia and have our lunch there.”
“ Sure, sure! I haven’t been there!’ I excitedly replied.
That night Maan packed a few good clothes for a week's stay at her cousin’s house. She plans to go back to the province and get more of her things if she passes the interview.

Inside the air conditioned bus on her way to Manila, Maan woke up after dozing off a few hours. She looked out the window to see how far she has travelled and realized that she’s halfway. She left the bus terminal in the province at seven in the morning and it’s almost ten o’ clock. She checked her phone to see if she has any messages.
1 Message Received from Jo 9:30 am
“ Couz, where are you? Text me before you reach the terminal. I just accompanied mom to the hospital for check up. See you!”
“ Okay. What happened to Aunt Jean? “ i replied
“ She had difficulty breathing. We suspect that it’s her blood pressure rising up again. I’ll just text you again once we’re done here.” Joan replied.
“ Alright. I hope everything’s gonna be okay for Aunt Jean. Take Care.” I replied.
She travelled for a few more hours because she got caught in traffic in some towns that they passed by. It’s almost eleven o’clock so she decided to text Joan again.
“ Jo, I am almost there. I’ll wait for you at the terminal. “ I texted her.
Maan waited for Joan’s reply but none came. Until she arrived at the terminal. It’s almost twelve noon and she’s already starving. She decided to have her lunch at a nearby fast food. She was having her lunch when her phone alarmed with multiple messages.

“ Couz! I’m so sorry! I wouldn’t be able to fetch you now. We’re still in the hospital running some laboratory tests for mommy.” Joan’s text.
Another text from Joan reads:
“ Couz, don’t worry I asked a favor from my cousin Gil. I asked him to fetch and bring you to his house. I will just fetch you there this afternoon once I finish here.” Jo’s text.
What? What just happened?! Maan really looked worried. She couldn’t take it against Joan because it wasn’t her fault. In the first place she’s asking her a favor. She opened the message from an unknown sender.
“Hi! I’m Gil. Joan’s cousin. Where are you now? I’m here at the terminal.”
Panic is starting to rise from Maan. Which one should she reply first?
“ I am here at the 2nd floor of the nearby restaurant from the terminal.” I replied to an unknown sender.
I sent a text to Joan.
“ Jo, what’s happening? It’s an inconvenience to your cousin.I don’t even know him!” I texted.

“ What are you wearing?...what color? So I can easily identify you. “
Maan felt she blushed with the question. If it’s under a different circumstance she would be offended with the question. But I guess it was just an appropriate question with their situation.
“ I am wearing a green shirt, denim pants and rubber shoes. I’m just seated near the staircase.” I replied to the unknown sender and decided to save his number. Gil- Jo’s Couz

“ Couz, it’s okay. Gil is kind. You’re in good hands! Hehehe.” Joan’s text.
Maan couldn’t finish her food because of the stress she’s feeling at the moment. When suddenly a man appeared in front of her.
“ Excuse me. Are you Maan? “ a soft spoken man said.
“Y-yes, it’s me. ``I hesitantly answered
“Hi! I’m Gil. Joan’s cousin.” he introduced himself and offered his hand which I timidly took.
“ Joan asked me to fetch you. She just needs to attend to an errand.” he explained.
“ H-have a seat.” I reluctantly offered. Come on Maan relax. Why are you feeling nervous? This is not like you are having a blind date. She scolded herself. She nervously drinks her iced tea and secretly surveys him. He has white complexion, pointed nose, chinky eyes, a few inches taller than her, lean but not muscular just good enough. She noticed that he glanced at his wristwatch so she finished drinking her iced tea.
“Are you ready to leave?” he asked.
She nodded her head and got her travelling bag beside her.
“ I’ll carry it for you.” he said and got the travelling bag and walked ahead of me. She closely followed him to where his car was parked and noticed something with the way he walked.
Aside from being soft spoken, he also moves gently like a woman. Joan said I am safe with him… Isn’t he?...
After 16 years… “Yan-Yan! You’ve been in the bathroom for quite a while now! JZ will be here any moment. Will you please come out now!” Maan shouted behind her bathroom door. It’s already four in the afternoon and they need to be in the venue by five in the afternoon. Today is Ya-Yan andJZ’s JS Prom. They are both in their fourth year of Junior high school. Gillian Marie Velasco or Yan-yan and Johnel Zion Mercado or JZ have been inseparable since pre-school until now that they are in high school. Yes, they are the children of Maan and Gil and John and Angel. Angel and John were not just staff of GilYan’s Kitchen but they became business partners after a few years. Their children grew closer and treated one another as siblings as they grew older. Both Yan-yan and JZ were aware that both of their parents wished that they woul
Gil was very hands-on when it came to Maan’s pregnancy. He gave in to every cravings Maan had. He did not fail to accompany her to her monthly check ups. They do not have any preference when it comes to their baby’s gender. What is important for them is the health and safety of Maan and the baby. Months quickly passed by and GilYan’s Kitchen continued to grow. They also have a growing branch in Batangas which was managed by her sister-in-law, Karen. Angel enrolled herself in an online table skirting and design course to help in the catering aspect of the business. Their proposed separate kitchen and office for the business also pushed thru. Baby JZ has started to become restless and moved a lot. He has started to crawl, stand up and take baby steps. Maan safely delivered her healthy baby girl named Gillian Marie Velasco. Maan and Gil were overjoyed with the b
Maan and Gil’s first Christmas and New Year’s Day celebration was so happy because they got to celebrate it together with both of their families in Batangas. It was the first week of January when they dropped off Gil’s family at the airport. It was a mixture of happiness and sadness because they got to know one another and truly bonded during their times together but now they need to be separated once again and wait for a long time to see each other again. They just have to be satisfied with video calls again.“Don’t forget to let us know next month if the baby project in Palawan became successful!” Vanessa reminded them.“Huh? We are not the only ones who need to give an update. You also need to update us on that baby project next month!” Maan teased then giggled.&nb
The trip to Palawan took them just a few hours. Exactly five in the afternoon when their aircraft landed right in front of the hotel. They were able to rest during the flight maybe because of fatigue of the past days that they were able to sleep the whole flight they were just woke up when it was time to get off the plane. They woke up fully charged and excited on their first time in Palawan. They were warmly welcomed by the hotel staff with a fresh coconut juice for everyone while they were being assisted by the attendants in checking in. The staff checked if they have complete requirements to travel because of Covid-19, they need to have a clear result of RCPT- Covid test before they can be allowed to travel. They need to show the result to the place of destination before they are allowed to enter. They were not booked inside the hotel but instead they were led to the back of the hotel where villas were located. They went to a family villa where a s
The day that Maan and Gil were waiting for has finally arrived…their church wedding. Maan stayed at her parents’ house two days before the wedding because the oldies still follow traditions and superstitions. They believe that it is bad luck for the bride and groom to see each other the day before the wedding. Gil stayed at their house with his family. They just called and sent messages so that they don’t have to miss each other much. Their families prepared so much for this special day. Her father butchered two pigs and dressed a number of chickens for the wedding feast. The amount of food that will be served definitely was twice as much when they had their civil wedding. They were expecting more people to come today than their previous wedding because it is more lenient now than six months ago. A lot of people came to the house to help in the preparations. Mr. Chairman, Mark, Angel and John with baby Johnel Zion, Hannah and Dexter
The next day, Maan introduced Gil’s family to her newly hired staff of GilYan’s Kitchen. They observed how they work for a few hours before they bid them goodbye to visit their relatives in the city, first on the list is Aunt Jean’s family. Days quickly passed by and the weekend came. Together with Gil’s parents and Vanessa’s family, Maan and Gil were on their way to Batangas in a rented van. They decided to leave after dinner to avoid being stuck in heavy traffic. Nine in the evening and they were on their way to the province.“Maan, is your house by the beach?” Vanessa asked.“Not so, sister. There is a nearby beach resort in our village but our house is not by the beach. Our place is more farmland than the coastal area.” Maan replied.“Really
