Onyx is a powerful, young warrior vampire of pure-blood decent and daughter of her clan’s leader. Against her wishes she has been betrothed to Elijah, the soon-to-be leader of a fellow clan in hopes of creating a union between the two as the continuing feud between vampires, werewolves, and witches rages on. She despises Elijah remembering how he treated her as a child, but now they are both adults and he has changed in a way that she can’t explain. She has always followed the rules and known her place and wants nothing more than to eliminate the werewolf species.. well, until she met him. Atlas will be the next alpha of his pack. Although she despises wolves, something is different about him. Her once cold, heartless, and vicious demeanor is being softened. She never believed in destiny, but how can you fight something you can’t control? How do you choose between your heart and your commitment?

Yuck! I really don’t understand people finding this kind of shit story sweet. There’s no sweet on how equally dumb Onyx is treating and doing to Atlas and Atlas being so dumb and pathetic. Eww…

Chapter 1
Blood ran down my chin slowly as I indulged in the taste. Not too much. I was here for business, not pleasure, after all. This just happened to be an added bonus. My eyes looked down on the creature in front of me. ‘Dirty mutt,’ I thought to myself. He had tried to catch me off guard in a failed attempt to take off my head. Amateur. I had been training vigorously since the tender age of 6, as do all warriors in my clan. He most likely assumed I was some young, inexperienced vampire who he could easily overpower. I chuckled to myself at the thought when the realized he had assumed wrong. As I did appear to be young - I had reached maturity at the age of 19 and stopped physically aging since - I was actually 59 years old. That was relatively young for a vampire, but inexperienced, not so much. This would just be one of many wolf lives I had ended. In fact, I had lost count at this point. Hmm. An idea formed in my mind. Maybe I should start a kill-book with details about all my victi

Chapter 2
The figure in front of me approached rapidly. As I spun, my foot met his chest sending him flying across the room. I walked over towering above him as he relented in defeat. Kneeling down, I peered into his eyes and he grabbed my arm as I lifted him up.Thalan, my training partner and friend, looked up at me grinning while grasping his chest in pain.“Damn, Onyx, you seem particularly vicious today.”“Does that mean you think I am vicious everyday? Flattery will get you nowhere, Thalan.”He laughed, apparently amused by my deadpan humor.“Father has decided to push up my betrothal to Elijah. He will be here sometime this week, although I’m not sure when the ceremony is to take place.”“Seriously? Why so soon?” He asked curiously.“I believe he’s worried about the wolf/witch/hunter threat, if you could call it that, and trying to gather reinforcements. It seems we have enemies all around us now.”Thalan eyed me thoughtfully. “Well, that does make sense, honestly. It’s a smart match.”M

Chapter 3
My feet moved swiftly beneath me. I would appear as nothing but a blur to the untrained eye. It was dark and rainy, a perfect night to be on the prowl. I was not sure exactly where my target was, but I had good intel that he frequented a local establishment that catered to wolves. Not a bad place to start.Driving would have been quicker, but I preferred to be on foot. The sun prevented us from being out in the day for the most part. That was the curse handed down from the gods. So I always jumped on the opportunity to be free in the night.I slowed down and came to a halt tilting my head back facing the dark sky allowing the rain to hit me. I felt it pour over my body gently tapping on my suit asking to be let in. I would have love to feel it against my skin. Even through my suit it was so serene and cool, almost enough to quell the fire burning inside of me, but tonight I didn’t want it to be quelled. I wanted to be consumed by it.I maneuvered atop a small building ledge that overl

Chapter 4
“Which one of you shall be next?” I pointed between the remaining two wolves that had been standing outside. One of them ran over to check on their fallen companion, while the other lurked toward me snarling and revealing teeth. I smirked realizing he meant to be intimidating and fought the urge to charge forward meeting him halfway. I still needed Ezekiel to come to me, and I was not quite sure if he was alone inside. I was curious as to why he had not shown himself yet but did not press the matter too much. That was actually working to my advantage. It may prove a bit more difficult to take them all on at once, as tempting as it was to try.Adrenaline coursed through my body preparing me for the inevitable fight that was about to ensue. This is what I came here for. This is what I craved. This is what excited me. I welcomed the intense rush as it flowed over me like an invisible veil kicking me into overdrive. The wolf moving towards me was slower than I would have expected. H

Chapter 5
The force of the blow to my back sent me forward before I quickly recovered and jumped to the side evading another hit. From a crouched position, I eyed the figure in front of me. I had not anticipated his speed or strength, and by the time I sensed him, it was too late. The impact of his blow would have sent a weaker vampire to the ground seriously injured.I grimaced at the source of the pain until gaining my composure before a sly grin formed on my face as I slowly stood to my feet. My guard had been down assuming he was weak, a mistake I would not make again. He had not been weak at all. In fact, his strength and speed exceeded that of Ezekiel’s. If he had joined the fight before now, things may have gone differently.Unfortunately for him, I had used all my nonlethal tools in taking down the others. It was now clear he would not come willingly and had no plans on allowing me to get leave with Ezekiel. I looked down at the fallen alpha before returning my calculating gaze back to t

Chapter 6
Atlas’ POVOnyx. That was my new favorite name. It suited her perfectly describing the color of her long, black shiny, silky hair that I wanted to run my fingers through.Fuck. Her scent was better than anything I had ever smelled in my life; coconut and with a hint of warm vanilla. I wanted to inhale that scent forever. Her eyes were the prettiest shade of purple I had ever seen. I never even fucking liked purple until I saw those gems. I was a compete sucker for her. Her skin was smooth and pale like porcelain, and her lips were so full and pink. I needed to feel them against mine. She looked like a doll, a beautiful doll, one that you would collect as a treasured item put upon display and never touch. But I wanted to touch her badly. I needed to.I watched as she ran off and my heart sank in my chest. My hand grazed against the wound that had started to heal, the wound caused by her, my mate.I think she fucking hated me, but even though she brought me pain, she could have ki

Chapter 7
I made it back to the compound still somewhat in disbelief of what had just happened. I could not remember the last time I failed or left a mission incomplete, especially one of this magnitude. Father would be very displeased, but that was the least of my worries. The reason for which I failed my mission was my conundrum. That wolf… he somehow got under my skin and got the best of me mentally and I found myself unable to kill him. It angered me to my core that he had some kind of affect over me. And in the end, I gave him my name. Why? What could I have possibly been thinking?I was not a wolf. Why would his mate bond have any sway over me? No. It could not be. There must have been something else. I was probably just weak and irritable. I had not consumed any blood before I left for the assignment. My energy must have been low, and I was not thinking straight. Yes. That made sense. That was most likely the issue. That had to be it, because the alternative was something I could not bri

Chapter 8
Elijah Galanis, heir and future leader of the Galanis coven and all its glory. We did not have official kings and queens, and although each coven was able to retain power individually, the Galanis’ held the most authority and controlled matters as a whole. His face was familiar, and yet different than what I would have imagined. His light brown hair was combed back but a strand hung down in the front against his forehead. His face was smooth, devoid of any hair. The sea-foam green eyes I looked into were the only things that really stayed true to my memory. He was now a lot taller and muscular. He wore a black turtle neck sweater, black pants, and a gold chain with his family emblem hung around his neck.It had been many years since we had seen each other and obviously we were no longer children, but I had not really thought about what he would look like. As much as I hated to admit he had grown to be attractive, if you could call it that.He stared at me curiously and I watched his ey

Chapter 9
I slammed my door shut kicking the table across the room. I wanted to do so much more than that. Murder was on my mind. It took all of Thalan and Lilith’s strength to drag me to my bedroom, and even then a few times I had almost made it out of their grasp running back towards Elijah to finish what I had started. Had I not exerted myself earlier, they would not have been able to hold me back. I could not remember the last time I had felt so much anger. The way he antagonized me was demeaning. Father would be less than understanding when he heard about our little interaction, so doing further damage would be problematic for me, but I would love to meet him in the training arena. Playing dirty was not beneath me, and I would absolutely destroy him one way or the other eventually. How could I be betrothed to someone like him? He was completely intolerable, worse than I had remembered. There was no way I could go through with this. I would not go through with this. I had to come up with a

Chapter 10
The large gray wolf walked towards me slowly, stopping right in front of me to peer up with those same blue eyes before he lowered his head down to the ground in submission. I was somewhat shocked at this gesture. I stood there confused initially until his snout nudged against my leg. My arm seemed to move on its own as I reached my hand out to pet him.Admittedly, his light gray coat was pleasing to the eye. It shone like a bright silver under the light of the moon. His fur felt extremely soft to the touch as I made long strokes from his neck down to his back. He trembled underneath me from the sensation loving every minute of it.This was the first time I had actually felt a wolf in this way. Usually when my hands were wrapped around them it was not to pet. He did not smell like wet dog either. His scent was different, and I realized it was the scent I had noticed on me before earlier in the night. It was woodsy and earthy, with a hint of fresh water, like the moment right before daw
