Devastated. That was the only word that could truly portray how she felt. Clarissa Harlin, an orphan who thought she had crossed the bridge of misfortune stared miserably as the life she had spent all her time nurturing wither. The question, "How could you?" pierced through her heart, shattering her entire world into countless shards. Utterly speechless and in a state of shock, she stared at him, unable to form a coherent response. It felt as though her entire being was in a trace. "You are despicable!" He spat. As Alec abruptly left the house, she experienced an intense surge of panic, feeling as though her heart might burst out of her chest. Her forehead glistened with droplets of sweat as she shuddered, finding it increasingly difficult to breathe with each passing moment. Desperate to steady herself, she reached for a couch in order to avoid collapse. "What is happening?" she questioned herself, even though she already knew the answer. However, her fragile heart was aware of the devastation that acknowledging the truth would bring. So she made a false reality in her mind, convincing herself that it was all just a terrible dream, a nightmare from which she would soon wake up. Even though the painful reality was glaring right at her!

Chapter 1
Clarissa's heart grew heavier as memories of her past flooded her thoughts, an inescapable weight that crushed her from within, leaving even the simplest tasks like breathing tiring. "Hey!" Her coworker Joanne interrupted her daze with a tap on the shoulder. "Are you okay?" She asked. "You are spacing out again." With a faux smile, Clarissa gently shook her head. "Am fine." She used her middle finger to push her glasses upward, closer to her eyes. Which she often do out of habit. Some days it’s hard for her to focus on anything but worry. It felt as though a dark cloud loomed over her, casting a shadow over all aspects of her life."If you insist," Joanne breathed out, her handbag resting softly on her shoulder as she applied her lip gloss. "Anyway, we are done for the day, want me to walk you home?" "I will be taking the bus, thanks anyway," Clarissa mumbled arranging the scattered files on her desk."Alright then." Joanne waved and with a tired yawn she walked out of the office. "

Chapter 2
Clarissa stared at the night sky which was glowing with bright city lights. The pale crescent moon shone like a silvery claw in the night sky as the bus stumbled on the bumps of the road like an infant learning to walk. Clarissa would have held on to the armrest of the bus to reassure herself that she would survive the bumping road, but between the dirt and sweat left like a legacy by other passengers, and the old man who was subtly trying to shift closer to her, she remained indecisive. Her car broke down and was still under repair so she just had to endure the public transport still it gets fixed.“Coming back from work?” an old lady asked, elbowing the old man as she spoke. He smiled sheepishly and shifted away to the gang of hooligans who were howling at girls on the street like wolves. He looked as if he wanted to join them. It was one of the things she hated about the neighborhood before hers. It was known to have a lot of hooligans and prostitutes and the roads were terrible. Th

The evening sun cast long shadows on the ground, and the slanging ray of the setting sun gave a warm orange tinge to the sky. The sky was ablaze with the fire of the setting sun, no other time of the day beats this scenery aside from nighttime when the night sky glows with city lights and blankets of stars that stretch to infinity. That beauty is what is beyond comparison.Alec was in one of his villas, it was an earthly paradise with well-nurtured gardens and rare flowers. To the outside world viewers, the villa seemed identical to any other in the prestigious neighborhood. Large curtained windows set in solid concrete walls and burnt red tiles on the roof. Stone statues guarding the entrance, a freshly trimmed lawn, flowering bushes, and sunlight reflecting off the surface of a pool.A well-kept gravel path led to automatic double doors. Inside, rested proudly several brand-new sumptuous vehicles. A rusty toolbox screeched bearing the weight of various gardening instruments. In num

Chapter 4
It was a quiet night after the rain. The kind of night where the air was crisp and clean, the world brightened by the cold glow of the moon. There was hardly a sound to be heard, save for the occasional rumble of a car passing by.Every now and then, a car would pass, the sound of its wheels against the wet pavement filling the silence. It was as though they were trying to make up for the stillness, the emptiness that had enveloped the city. But even then, they could not break the spell. The stillness remained unbroken, the hush of the night refusing to yield to the world's clamor. It was a moment of quiet reflection, a time to savor the beauty of the world as it rested in peaceful slumber. Clarissa lay on the bed and stared up at the ceiling. After a short while, the textured Artex started to swirl before her eyes, giving her the impression that at least something was moving in her room, even if it was an imitation of life. Her hands lay across her chest, clasped together, but not in

Alec, the esteemed CEO of his company, sat regally in his plush leather chair, surveying the intricately adorned boardroom. The air crackled with a sense of authority and anticipation as he tapped on the table with the pointing finger of his right hand while gazing at his staff. Despite his intimidating aura, the female board members could not help but admire his god-like features. He had a sculpted face, His sword-like eyebrow was perfectly carved, though they were slightly covered by the strands of hair tumbling off his messy styled hair."Begin." He said, slouching on his chair in a relaxed manner.A young lady who was lost gazing at his unearthly appearance lurched up from her seat and sorted the file she was holding. "Our company's stock price has expanded in cost by 2%." She informed him, handling the paperwork."Next!" he said, scanning through the file."A portion of the company's shipments showed up yesterday," a moderately aged man said, standing up on his feet."Next." The lively diner. It was an amazing restaurant. Yes, not everyone is entirely perfect. It’s incredibly hard to find a great restaurant that has attentive servers, high-quality food served promptly, a friendly atmosphere, and overall cleanliness. Incredibly, this is an impeccable restaurant that not only meets all of the criteria listed above but also exceeds them. It is a cheerful place to be in. The magnificent front facade welcomes the rising sun, illuminating the whole space and bringing it to life. The sun's rays made the metal tables shine like a sliver. The soothing music played in the diner acts as a treat for the ears and a perfect start to a day. The people were captivated by the melodious tune and seemed to sway in its rhythm. The smell of freshly baked bread attracts everyone passing by."Order up!" Clarissa called out to the chef, as she walked in the door, aromas flooded her nostrils; another day of being a waitress had begun. Immediately, bacon sizzling on the grill grabb

The smell of Curried Squash Soup rum the air of a small bungalow. A slender middle age lady stood beside the kitchen table slicing pepper. Her gunmetal grey-black hair was long and lush. Her eyes appear milky since she was tired but usually, they are gleaming with energy. She didn't say a word as Steve her husband towered over her, screaming in her face.
