On a faithful Thursday evening, I was with Haneefah in her home sipping lemonade and gisting about school stuff, lecturer crushes, wicked lecturers and other girlie fantasies when I heard a melodious Salam with a sweet scent of black oud, which made me raise my head to see a very beautiful creature of Allah.
He has an average height with caramel dark skin and a little bit of plump lips, Don't mind my perverted self.
I quickly averted my gaze and concentrated on my phone before he catches me practically checking him out.Wow !!! Who is this Angel was all i kept saying in my mind."Yaya Haneef sannu da zuwa ( welcome bro Haneef)" Haneefah said. Greeting him.
Wow his name is Haneef, nice name.
"Ya su mummy da daddy ( thanks, how is Mom and Dad)" she asked.
"Alhamdulillah suna nan l lafiya ( All thanks be to Allah, they are all fine)" he replied.
From their little conversation, I observed that he is a man of few words.
He asked of her parents and she told him they went for a trip, he brought out three polyethylene bags and handed it over to her telling her one is hers and the other is for her parents, he bade her goodbye and she left to see him off.
"Wow! he didn't even ask her who I was nor try to even say hi. That is rude" I said out loud.
I disappointedly continued chatting on WhatsApp and waited for haneefah to come back."Salam" she said. I didn't even answer her Salam before attacking her with my questions "who is that person that you didn't even care to introduce me to?".
"Oooohhhhh!! I am so i sorry I forgot to" she said, face palming herself .
"And besides we are not close enough for him to want to know my friends". She added with an exasperated sigh.
"Okh, do tell me more about him" I said.
"why?" she asked with an amused smirk.
"I just want to know. I kinda find him fascinating". I replied in a low tune as if he was somewhere close, evesdropping on our conversation.
"Ooohhh!!! some one has a crush here" she teased, tickling me which made me wriggle and laugh hysterically. After some time and ernest pleading, she decided to stop, both of us now panting.
"Nooo am just curious that's all" I answered trying to hide the blush that crept up my cheeks.
"Are you sure that's all?" she asked, giving me that knowing look.
"Okay I think I have a teeny weeny crush on him but it doesn't mean I like- like him, am just a bit curious." I blushed and she laughed. I also laughed trying to brush the issue off.
"Ikhlas Haneef!!!" she teased.
"Don't even start!!" I warned before she heave a sigh.
"Ok I will tell you." She replied in her surrendering tone.
"My dad Alhaji Abdullahi Wasai and Yaya Haneef's dad Alhaji Abdulgaffar Wasai are Siblings, Yaya Haneef's dad is older.
My mom and his mom are sworn enemies even before my birth I don't really know why so we don't really get along. He has two sisters Humaira and Fati, they are twins and do not look like one. we are friends and age mates and we like each other but not as much as I like you peaches" she said with a bright smile."He studied Medicine in Uthman Danfoio University Sokoto. He did his internship and youth service in katsina. he came back after finishing his youth service.
He is an introvert and a neat freak. I don't really know much about him because we are not close and his mother hates my guts. That is all I have to tell my little love struck peaches" she said."Our soon to be Mrs Haneef." She tried teasing again, and I rewarded her with a non chalant shrug to prevent her from further teasing.
"OMG! I can't wait for you to be part of our family......."
" Hanny stop!" I cut her off before she makes a big deal out of it and thankfully she stopped.
We continued gisting about other random stuff and later on we prayed Magrib prayer, ate our dinner, worked on Mr Kabir's assignment and prayed Isha before settling for a movie.
We had a hard time choosing movie because Haneefah is a pain in the ass when it comes to movies.
I love horror movies and she isn't brave enough to watch it. Soon we settled on a Korean movie tittled Scholar who works at night.
Though the movie was very interesting, all I could think of was the breathtaking Yaya Haneef. We watched about 4 episodes before Haneefah started sleeping and we called it a day.
I retired to the room, laid on the bed, said my Azkhar and went to sleep thinking about My haneef. My full name is Ikhlas Ajoke Muhammad. yes!! I am a Yoruba girl from Oyo state in southern Nigeria.
I am not tall, just the average woman height. I am chocolate brown in complexion with round face, hazel eyes, a perfectly arranged and gap toothed white teeth, unfortunately I do not have a pointed nose. But hey! I have dimples too. That also counts right? I won't say am Preety but Masha Allah am okay. Everyone is beautiful in his/her own way.
I came to Kano state to study Medical Radiography in Bayero University and I am in 500 level, yeah! my final year.
I just can't wait to be a certified and licensed Radiographer.Even though it's getting tougher now. Imagine the heartache you go through when you are at the verge of completing your degree and your lectures are making it harder for you to scale through.
I met Haneefah when I first came to Kano for my Post-UTME exams and we became best friends.Haneefah Abdullahi Wasai is smallish and cute, fair in complexion with long black hair and pointed nose. she has the looks of typical Fulani girls in Northern Nigeria. Very pretty right? Yeah that's my Bestfriend.
Being the only child of her family, she was brought up with so much love and care. We became close friends seeing each other every day in class and I sometimes do go to her home for weekends. So we are more like sisters than BBFs.

So guys this is the Epilogue / Happily - ever - after part of this story. I hope ya all like it. Two and a half years later ❤️?Ikhlas POV.It's a beautiful spring day. The clouds have passed, revealing the tucked away light blue colors of the world. I started down at the busy New York street from my window.Yeah we moved here two years ago not long after I gave birth to my baby girl. We named her Nafeesah. After we moved here Haneefah gave birth to a baby boy and he was named Hashim.I also work as a specialist in NYU LANGONE MEDICAL CENTER and Haneefah decided to pursue her dream of being a Radiotherapist there in NYU. I must say everything had been awesome and I can never be happier. Plus I get to see Delilah any day anytime. Do you know how that feels? I bet you do.
Ikhlas POVThe next day, I got ready for my Antenatal as usual and got out of my room. I met Haneefah in the sitting room, she was dressed like she was also going out but it looked like she was waiting for someone. "Hi" she said to me and my heart immediately started beating erratically that I thought it would eventually combust. I also replied with a "Hi". She shifted in her seat, hesitating to answer. "Umm... Am not trying to be overbearing but I would like to go to the hospital with you." My heart swelled and it meant a lot to me that she wanted to come. I hadn't expected her to, but she already Suprised me multiple times this past month. I nodded "I'd love if you come" I started the car and drove off to the hospital. She rested her head and for a while I thought she was sleeping till I saw tears run down her tears. "Are you okay?" I asked.
Ikhlas POVThe night was beautiful, the stars were out and the sky was the darkest shade of blue I had seen in a while. The moon was full and it casts a shimmering light below, lightening the part for the dark at heart. The mid October breeze blew in all directions, never slowly in it's mad rampage. It wasn't cold, but it was a sign of winter approaching. I sat by my window, staring at the beautiful scenery and thinking about how life with Haneefah had turned out to be. Things were slowly changing between I and Haneefah. I could now comfortably watch movies in the sitting room without any problem, Even though we haven't sit together since the day she took me to the hospital well apart from meals. A message popped up on my phone screen, rescuing me from my stress-induced daze. "Get ready tomorrow Kaka wants to see all of us." It was from Haneef. Which made me begin to wonder what might ha
IKHLAS POVThe sun rose above the grey clouds barely shedding enough light onto the street. Today's gonna be a cold rainy day. The rains seems to slowly withdraw, it being the late September.I got ready with my heart beating like Bata Drum (a Yoruba musical instrument) I just wished the skies will open up their tanks and pour everything down to stop me from going to the hospital with Haneefah today. He came in and smiled brightly at me. "Ready?" He asked.I let out the air I held before nervously running my hands down my sides. "Ready" I answered with a nod, picked up my phone and we both came out together. She was quiet, her head hung low and she entered the driver's seat of her car. I climbed into the passenger's seat and we both took off to the hospital. The tension in this car was a thick as a brick wall and
