Which Apps Offer A Trial For The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe Audiobook
Trying the audiobook before committing—Audible? Scribd? Spotify? Are there any limited-time trials for The Chronicles of Narnia first book, maybe with bonus chapters?
Consider your long-term audiobook habits. If this is your first and you might not listen to another for a year, a trial you cancel is perfect. If you think you'll get into audiobooks, starting a trial on a service with a catalog you like (like Scribd's all-you-can-listen model) could be a better long-term fit, even if you pay after the trial.

My two cents: start with Hoopla. No waits. If it's there, you're golden. If not, then escalate to the commitment of an Audible trial. It's a tiered approach that minimizes hassle. Why give your credit card info if you don't have to?
This book is popular enough that there's a good chance Hoopla has it, depending on your library's contract with them.

I got it through my library's Libby and the loan was 21 days. More than enough time. The app even lets you recommend the book for purchase if your library doesn't own it. That process takes months, though, so not helpful for an immediate trial.

Pro-tip: if you have Amazon Prime, sometimes Prime Reading includes the ebook and you can get the audiobook at a discount. Not a trial, but another path to cheap access. Also, check if any family members have an Audible account you could borrow from; they can send you a book via the 'Send this Book' feature for free if they haven't used their send.

Libby's hold system is its own kind of trial, in a way. You commit to waiting, which tests your patience and how much you really want to listen to it. If you're willing to wait three weeks on a list, you probably really want it.
If you need it now, you pay (or start a paid trial). It's an interesting filter. Personally, I put holds on everything and let surprise 'available now' emails dictate my listening. It's a fun, low-pressure way to consume audiobooks.

When Anastasia, a lower level green witch, finally flees from a vengeful wolf pack, she finds herself soul-bond to the very thing she hates, a Lycan. Not only is he a Lycan, but he’s none other than Dominiko, the Lycan King himself! She thought struggling to accept him was the worst of her worries until she is faced with a catch 22. She must overcome her prejudice, embrace her power, and choose between the witches and Lycans, all while a war threatens to tear both worlds apart. Could she really go against her own people? Or will the Lycan kings hope for peace work?
When orphan police officer Sheila dies, she awakens in another world—reborn as Gina Hane, a wolf-less girl sold into slavery in the Lycan royal estate. She just hopes to survive, helpless and forgotten. Until she is noticed by the icy, sinfully alluring Lycan Prince Caleb Lake. The heat between them awakens something deep within her, although his interest is forbidden, dangerous, and intoxicating.
Each stolen touch stirs visions, strength, and a dormant wolf the kingdom thought impossible. Gina's transformation puts her at the center of a prophecy that has the power to either bring the supernatural worlds together or bring them all to an end.
Gina must transform from scullery maid to Seer Queen after being abducted, pursued, and crowned by fate. But first, she must decide: can she trust the prince whose desire unlocked her power… or is he the greatest threat to her fate?
He was never meant to be caged. And she was never meant to care.
King Marcus, a powerful werewolf of royal blood, has been captured by the humans he hates. Locked away in darkness, his rage only grows stronger—fueled by pain, humiliation, and a burning need for revenge. The only glimpse of light in his prison is a human woman who tends to him. She stirs a fire in him—one of fury, desire, and confusion. But once he breaks free, not even her kindness will save her from the destruction he plans to unleash.
She’s his weakness... and his only chance at freedom.
Princess Aria has sworn to destroy all werewolves. They took everything from her—her family, her peace, her heart. But when she learns that her missing sister may be held by werewolves, her mission shifts. To find her, Aria must get close to the enemy—closer than she ever imagined.
What begins as a rescue mission turns into something far more dangerous. As Aria and Marcus are drawn to each other, the lines between love and hate blur. In a world on the edge of war, she must decide if she can trust the one creature she was raised to destroy… or risk losing everything—including her heart.
When her kingdom is suddenly taken over by a ruthless and vengeful witch, Princess Elaine is faced with no other option but to seek the aid of the unlikely god known as King of the Underworld, Aidoneus.
LibriVox has public domain audiobooks read by volunteers. Unfortunately, C.S. Lewis isn't public domain yet in most places, so you won't find Narnia there legally. That site is amazing for older classics like Jane Austen or Sherlock Holmes, but for 20th-century works, you'll need the paid or library routes. Just a heads-up to save you time searching there.
For a completely different angle, look into dramatic audio productions from companies like Focus on the Family Radio Theatre. They did an acclaimed, fully-dramatized series for Narnia with professional actors and cinematic sound design. It's more like an old-time radio play than an audiobook. These are often sold on Christian bookstore sites or general retailers like Christianbook.com. Even if you're not religious, the production quality is top-notch and it's a incredibly engaging way to experience the story. It feels like you're right there in the snowy woods with Lucy.
You know, I've never actually timed it. I just know it takes about as long as driving to my grandma's house used to take. It was our traditional 'car tape.'
We'd start it as we left the city, and Aslan would roar just as we turned onto her street. It was like clockwork. So for me, it's not 4:22, it's 'the length of a trip to Grandma's.'
I suppose that's not a helpful answer for everyone, but it's the truth! The runtime is woven into my personal history, not just my media library.
The narrator situation is actually a bit of a rabbit hole! There's a famous version by a full cast of actors that's more like a radio play, which is fantastic. But the standard unabridged audiobook most people encounter is read by a single narrator.
Names to look for include Michael York, Kenneth Branagh, and Lynn Redgrave, depending on the publisher and release year. Some are more theatrical, others more straightforward. It really changes the vibe; Branagh's is more understated and literary, while the full-cast version is incredibly immersive for the battle sequences. Checking the details on Audible or your library's app before downloading is key to getting the experience you want.
