Who Does Asta End Up With: Noelle Or Another Character?

Asta is paired with Noelle in the end of Black Clover. An epilogue is provided for the two of them in the future, depicting them in domestic, stable environments. They could even be married with children, and many fans have already interpreted the ending that way. The ending of the two characters wasYears in the making, including many scenes in which they learned from each other, engaged in a push-and-pull throughout their battles, and struggled with what they wanted. In the end, alternate ships are still definitely beloved by fans of the series, but the canon pairing of Asta and Noelle is the natural ending for both of their story arcs. I found their ending to be bittersweet, but somehow also cozy.

So I finally read the part of Black Clover where it’s confirmed that Asta and Noelle end up together. I know the anime isn’t fully completed yet (and I’m pretty sure they still haven’t gotten to the part where they reveal the complete timeline) so I can see why some people on the internet are arguing over this, but yeah in the manga he ends up with her.

From a storytelling perspective, this makes sense. As the series goes to explore past the notion of physical battle in favor of more emotional showdowns, it only stands to reason that the most star-crossed ‘ship’ on the board would come to a head, with Asta’s loud and unshakeable optimism contrasting Noelle’s stern and tightly-wound nature in perfect mirror to the story’s themes of overcoming limits, of redefining what nobility actually means, and of finding family in the most unexpected of places. This all feels incredibly earned, too. The last couple of years of Black Clover have been, quite explicitly, the payoff of all of Tabata’s years of setting up each of the characters, in particular the male, to grow and learn in all sorts of ways before finally, fully, and 100% revealing their rescued vulnerabilities in the form of romantic partners.

It was really nice to see them get closure on the story. If you paid attention to the little things throughout the story then this ending is really rewarding.

Yes. The official ending of Black Clover is lovely. After years of Asta giving his all to the Kingdom, he finally gets to go home to Noelle. Their ending is depicted in the final chapters of the manga, in an epilogue of sorts, that shows the two of them and how they’ve matured as a couple. The illustration even conveys a sense of household, of future and of family. The confirmation of this pairing that has long been the hope of fans everywhere felt wonderful, in large part because it had been earned.

Watching their development is really sweet. Noelle’s character development from the insecure princess of a kingdom to a confident commander of Magical Knights was amazing, and it was completely supported by Asta’s consistent and stubborn support for her. Their battles together, quiet scenes where Asta helps Noelle to realize herself, and confessions all lead up to the satisfying conclusion of their romantic development. Since the anime hasn’t adapted all of the chapters yet, there are a lot of people who are still reading the manga, but the ending of the manga is set in stone for this couple.

Their opposites-attract relationship is a big part of why so many people are a fan of Asta/Noelle, because they bring out the best in each other. Seeing this payoff after all the times that Asta and Noelle have saved the Kingdom together, and after numerous times that each of their stubborn hearts had been worked through, felt great for me. It was like a final bow after a very long and unusual parade.
