What Are The Best Lucifer X Alastor Fanfictions With Emotional Redemption Arcs?

One of the redeeming fics of the Lucifer x Alastor pairing is ‘Shadows of Redemption’. It follows the overlord Alastor as he learns to care for others, with the guidance of Lucifer. Their journey begins as rivals, but slowly develops into respect and affection for each other. There are plenty of emotional scenes, to be sure, but overall it is a beautifully written fic. ‘Burning Bridges’ follows the path of redemption of Lucifer, and his attempts to reappear to Alastor. The portrayal of their bond in this one is extremely raw and heartfelt, making it an amazing read. ‘Hell’s Redemption’ is a more action-packed take on the same idea, but follows the story of Lucifer and Alastor teaming up to stop a celestial threat. Both the Redeemer pair and their battles are amazing in this one, so I highly recommend it. Fans of emotional storytelling and complicated relationships will love these fics.

This post is going to list out some of my favorite Hazbin Hotel fanfics, specifically Lucifer x Alastor with redemption arcs. I’ve read a lot of Hazbin Hotel fanfics over the years and this type of story is some of my favorites. First up is ‘Ashes to Embers’. In this story, Lucifer is consumed by guilt for his past actions and wants to make amends by helping to rebuild the Hellish hierarchy with Alastor’s help. The story does a great job of portraying the two characters’ rivalry and also their vulnerable moments. It’s especially great in the moments where Lucifer admits his fear of failing and Alastor confronts his own manipulative tendencies. The story of how they eventually bond over their shared loneliness and the weight of their respective legacies is especially touching. Another great story with a similar plot is ‘Crimson Strings’ which is told from Lucifer’s POV and focuses on Alastor’s redemption as he learns to care for the residents of the hotel. It’s a very slow burn but every moment of development between the two characters and between Alastor and the other residents of the hotel is completely earned. It’s also a very dark story, but the characters’ ultimate redemption is very satisfying.

Of the many narratives involving Lucifer and Alastor, ‘Eclipsed Hearts’ by [AZ] stands out. A rather wonderful story in which Lucifer and Alastor must team up in order to contain a rebellion in the depths of Hell. To me, the greatest strength of this fanfic lies in the exploration of the two characters’ core differences, their contrasting approaches to their power, and their respective struggles. The beginning of the story focuses primarily on Lucifer’s journey towards redemption; his search for ways to forgive himself for past mistakes. By the end, however, it is Alastor who has discovered the true value of connection with the other residents of the hotel. The finale is incredibly emotional as both characters finally come to terms with their own personal struggles, working through their baggage to find a way to heal. Another wonderful narrative exploring the theme of redemption in Alastor’s journey towards the light is ‘Shadows and Light’ by [periwinkleleu]. A more character driven story in which we are given a deep and intimate look at Alastor’s inner struggle to let go of his own darkness, and his somewhat reluctant journey towards it with the reluctant Lucifer by his side. The evolution of their relationship is absolutely tender and raw, and for those seeking stories which encompass elements of redemption and exploring the emotional depth of the characters, these two are an absolute must-read.

Right now I’m really enjoying most of the Lucifer x Alastor fics, especially the ones with redemption themes. One that I found particularly excellent was ‘Fallen Embers’ which follows the path of Alastor, once the ruthless overlord, learning to empathize with the people around him with Lucifer’s help. Though there are plenty of poignant moments in the story, the fic also has lots of humor and is an absolute delight to read. ‘Crimson Dawn’ was another that I greatly enjoyed. Here Lucifer and Alastor must work together to protect the hotel from certain threats to their pasts. The two characters are going through redemption together, and their complicated relationship is explored in very sweet, very intense ways. ‘Echoes of the Past’ was another really great take on the characters, in this one Alastor redsemes himself by helping Lucifer’s daughter Charlie come to terms with her own past, and the exploration of the family dynamics here was really wonderful and added a whole new layer to the story.

I just wanted to share that I am really a sucker for good redemption arcs in fiction. For the past week or so, I have been reading some really amazing Lucifer x Alastor fics. The first that really stands out to me is ‘Beneath the Mask’ by this amazing writer. Throughout the story Alastor is trying to find redemption and that journey is deeply tied to his growing relationship with Lucifer. The two start out as rivals but as the story progresses, we get to see the layers of both characters come off one by one. The way that Lucifer grows from a bitter and broken king to a calm and wise leader was amazing to read. I also really adored how Alastor grew from a manipulative overlord to someone who truly cared for those around him. The second story that I just wanted to recommend is ‘Twisted Harmony’. In this story, Alastor’s love of jazz and Lucifer’s love of classical piano are used to show the two characters’ journeys towards redemption. The pacing of this story was perfect. Every chapter or so we would get more into the backstories of both of the characters and how those things had affected their lives up until now. The third story that I wanted to recommend is more action oriented but still has a lot of great emotional moments for both of the characters. ‘Hellfire and Shadows’ is a story where Lucifer and Alastor team up in order to stop a threat to the heavens. The moments of introspection in this story really added to the overall understanding of both characters and their growth throughout the plot. I would really recommend all of these to anyone who enjoys a good dose of emotional stories with a touch of action.
