I really like a lot of auto-wake covers for the Fire HD 8. The official Amazon case opens up and instantly turns on the screen which is really cool. But I have also looked at a lot of other third-party cases that do a great job as well. For example, I really like the slim-fit version by MoKo that looks like the official case by Amazon. Not all of these third-party versions work well but if you search for terms like “smart wake/sleep” in the product details then you should be okay. I try to stay away from super cheap no-name brands because most of the time these are just simple folios and do not have any of the advanced technology that these types of products use. So to get the best results for auto-wake on your Fire HD 8 read the reviews for each product and see if any of the reviews mention if the case works for auto-wake or not. Most people are pretty honest and will let you know right away if it does not work for you.

For Fire HD 8 cases, auto-wake is not a universal feature. The official case for Fire HD 8 works every time, but third-party cases do not. You can find cases for under $15 that do not have auto-wake. If you need it to work every time, it is worth paying a little more for. But most features for cases are unnecessary and get in the way of design. So I recommend to get a case that has the features you need and then forget about it. Unless you like to press the wake up button manually.

Many auto-wake covers for the Fire HD 8 use magnets to trigger the tablet’s sleep sensor. Amazon makes a perfect cover that does this, but third-party versions can be quite hit-or-miss. The poetic case I bought worked perfectly, but my friend got a different cover from the same brand and it didn’t work. So if you don’t care about the material, the official Amazon cover is the safest choice, but otherwise read the customer reviews to see how the off-brand version worked for others.

I’d love to see the Fire HD 8 look as great with a cover on as it does off. As for the auto-wake feature, while the official Amazon cover is extremely pricey, it is extremely reliable. I bought a cheaper cover from Kwmobile, and it worked most of the time. But then again, sometimes the magnet wasn’t strong enough. So, if you’re going to get a cover and absolutely hate guessing as to whether it will auto-wake your tablet, go with the official Amazon cover. Not only is it reliable, but the cover feels premium between its hard outer shell and soft microfiber lining to protect the tablet’s screen from scratches. And, just a heads up, the auto-wake feature relies on the magnet placement of the cover.

Most cases don’t support auto-wake. I can confirm that Amazon’s official case for the Fire HD 8 does, though. The case uses a set of strong magnets to open and close the device’s sleep/wake sensor. I tested a number of third-party covers with auto-wake support and results varied greatly between them. One third-party cover that did work well for me was the Fintie case for Amazon. However, many of the other covers that I tested had less-than-satisfactory results and I wouldn’t recommend purchasing them if auto-wake is an essential feature for you.

There are many cases for Fire HD 8 on the market but if you need auto-wake function then I would recommend to go with official case by Amazon or read reviews of third-party cases to see if they place magnets in right places. Many cheap cases do not have magnets at all. Also note that some older versions of Fire HD 8 models (e.g. 7th gen.) might have slightly different cases compatible. Always check product description. I personally love that my tablet instantly wakes up when I open the cover. It’s a little detail but it’s so much fun!

Which best kindle covers paperwhite have auto wake/sleep?

I see that everyone's choices are way more interesting than mine. I just got the standard black Amazon fabric cover because it was the default option. It works. It's fine. The auto thing works too. I never even think about it. Maybe there's a whole world of more complex origami stands and handstraps out there, but honestly, I have no interest in them. My cover just sits there and does its job. It's never even occassion for me to think about it at all. That, I suppose, is the real definition of "best".

Are fire hd 10 cases compatible with the latest model?

8 Answers2025-08-17
By now you know we like to think about speaker cutouts too. If the speaker cutouts on older models are slightly different (in terms of grill pattern and/or position) then sound could get muffled by your new case. We know of a case that directed sound down (not good) as the cutouts for speakers on older Fire models are located in the bottom of the back of the Fire, whereas on the Fire HD 10 speakers are in the top when viewed in landscape mode. Play some music or watch a video on medium volume to test out an older case for any functional problems and note how tinny and quiet sound would be.

What formats does the kindle app for kindle fire support?

9 Answers2026-07-27
The Fire is basically a portable comics reader for me first, followed by ebook reader. I chose to go with the Fire and the Kindle app because it natively supports the comic book formats CBZ and CBR. I import my comics by dragging and dropping them into the “Books” folder. For Amazon-purchased ebooks, I read AZW3 format. Occasionally, I’ll purchase an eBook from elsewhere or download one from a Humble Bundle sale. In those cases, I’ll import them as EPUB and use the Send-to-Kindle web interface to add them to my library. While Send-to-Kindle can be a little slow at times, having all of my books – purchased and added via sideload – in one app, syncing across all of my devices is worth the wait. The list of supported file formats is very suitable for my style of reading. If I read more academic PDFs, then perhaps this would not be as good of a choice, but for the most part, I read a lot of fiction and comics, and the Kindle app is great at reading both of those formats.

How do I enable airplay amazon fire stick on Fire Cube?

7 Answers2025-08-26
Enabling display mirroring on the Fire Cube is a matter of going to Settings > Display & Sounds and toggling the associated option to the On position. Then, on your Apple device, you can use Screen Mirroring from the Control Center to select the Fire Cube from a list of availablegetDisplayMirroring-enabled devices. Video clips from apps like Facebook can then be cast to your TV where they can be viewed by everyone. Sound is even sent to the TV speakers, a much better location than in your phone's tiny speaker(s). In short, it's a really cool way to share photos – passing around a physical album of them just isn't this cool.

How to install a case on Kindle Paperwhite?

We all fear that our beloved Kindle could snap at any time. This fear is worse when it has a flush screen like the current generation of Paperwhite Kindles. I gently put my Kindle on a clean flat surface (kitchen table, desk, etc). I slide the bottom of the Kindle first into the bottom clip or pocket of the case and ensure it goes in fully. I then gently but firmly press the top of the Kindle down into the case until I hear a soft click or feel it click into place. I then test the corners by gently pressing them to ensure they are secure. Running my finger around the edges of the Kindle to feel for any pinched corners or protrusions should give me confidence that my Kindle has been inserted safely into its case. The magnetic sleep/wake function will usually kick in straight away if your case has it – a good test.

How long does an Amazon Fire tablet battery last for novels?

4 Answers2025-08-02
For reading novels on the Amazon Fire HD 10, the battery easily lasts 10 hours or so. By keeping the brightness at 40% and putting it in airplane mode, the battery lasts quite a while. It is not near as efficient as an e-ink Kindle, but it has the advantage of being a colorful tablet with lots of apps. So long as you read for a few hours a day, you will only need to recharge it every couple of days or so.

What do the symbols on the wings of fire cover mean?

9 Answers2025-09-03
I always thought the markings on the cover were Dragon claw scratches or cave wall etchings, part of a primitive written language perhaps even older than the Dragon language seen in the scrolls. This would fit well with the ‘ancient prophecy’ theme of the series and mark the initial words of the first prophets on the caves of old, which no dragon of later times fully understands and thus got distorted over the centuries. This also could be really cool because the symbols on the cover are a mystery to us as well as to the dragons in the story. The symbols could be a relic from the past that hold no real meaning to anyone anymore. This would add another layer of poignancy to the cover and really make you stop and think. The fact that we as readers as well as the dragons in the story are trying to figure out the symbols left by the forgotten past is really deep for just a cover decoration.

How to show book cover on Kindle when sideloading?

11 Answers2026-07-27
So, I assume you got the free book from somewhere on the web and are now trying to transfer it to your eReader via email? That usually works just fine with the free books that authors and publishers offer on their own websites as promotional items. These are usually perfectly set up EPUB files, complete with perfect metadata and a lovely cover. But the files you download from less formal sources (like auto-generated by a web-crawler or created by some enthusiastic fan with no suitable software to do the job) tend to cause problems. And 80% of the problems with an EPUB go away if you start with a decent source file. A well-made EPUB is rather like a well-built house: it all fits together perfectly.

Are Wings of Fire Japanese covers different from English?

10 Answers2025-08-21
Interior pages may include different maps or alternative chapter opener illustrations. In fact, some foreign language editions of books are completely illustrated internally by the publisher. I am not certain whether or not Scholastic has done interior illustrations for the Japanese editions of the Wings of Fire books, but I would be surprised if not. In some cases the publisher commissions additional black-and-white spot illustrations for chapter openers in addition to the front and back cover artwork. In such a case the Japanese reader’s experience of the artwork would be entirely different from that of an English speaking reader and would thus be an entirely different artistic companion to the main body of the story. That would be another layer to explore.

Which Kindle Paperwhite generations support audiobooks?

11 Answers2025-08-18
The Kindle's user interface for audiobooks is minimal and easy to use. In addition to the typical play/pause button, there is a button that skips forward or back 30 seconds, and a button to change the speed of the book. Unlike the Audible app for Kindle, there is no equalizer, no sleep timer, etc. All of that would make the interface for audio on the Kindle more like that of a music or video player, which is not what the Kindle is. Instead, it is an excellent reader, and the interface for audiobooks reflects that. It is simple and unobtrusive, and does not take away from the experience of listening to the content of the book you are reading.
