Honestly, Wattpad gets a bad rap, but it's where a huge chunk of the younger fandom for 'Gravity Falls' operates, and that includes a ton of Stanford/Reader content. The algorithm's recommendations can be hit-or-miss, so you have to be patient. I find works with high vote counts—like, over 100K—are usually decently plotted, even if the prose is simpler. The comment sections are also way more active, so you get immediate reactions. It's a different flavor than AO3; less literary, more like hanging out with friends who are all screaming about the same obscure twin.

FF.net is practically a ghost town for modern reader-insert stuff, but don't completely dismiss it. A few older, novel-length Stanford fics from the show's peak years are archived there. They won't be tagged 'x Reader' in the title; you have to search summaries for 'OC' or 'Y/N' and sift. The prose in some of these is surprisingly solid, a relic from when fanfiction.net was the main stage. The rating system is useless, though. You judge by favorites and follows.

Discord servers dedicated to 'Gravity Falls' or specifically to fanfiction writing are weirdly the best curated spaces. Someone will just drop a link in a recommendations channel with a note like 'this one nails his voice' and it's almost always a banger. It's insider trading for fanfic. You have to be invited, usually by being active in other parts of the fandom, but the signal-to-noise ratio is phenomenal. No algorithms, just human vetting.

I take a contrary stance: seeking out 'well-rated' stuff can sometimes funnel you toward the most generic, crowd-pleasing tropes. My favorite Stanford/Reader fic has maybe 50 kudos on AO3. I found it by filtering for completed works under 10k words and just... reading. The characterization of Stanford's anxious, obsessive genius felt pitch-perfect, way more than in some of the top-listed fics that just make him a generic grumpy love interest. The metrics are a starting point, not a destination. Dive into the mid-range kudos count, sort by date, give obscure writers a chance. The real gems often hide from the spotlight.

Archive of Our Own is your absolute foundation for this. The tagging system is precise enough that you can search for 'Stanford Pines/Reader' and then sort by kudos or comments, which gives you a pretty reliable quality filter. The sheer volume means the top results are usually excellent.
I'd also suggest not sleeping on Tumblr, despite its reputation. Some of the most atmospheric, character-driven reader inserts for 'Gravity Falls' live there, often as multi-part series. Finding them is more of a scavenger hunt—you need to follow the right blogs and track reblogs—but the payoff is stories that feel deeply personal and embedded in the show's weird, melancholic vibe. The lack of a formal rating system means you rely on notes and reblogs as a quality signal.
A less obvious tip: check the bookmarks of authors who write Stanford-centric gen fic or other ships. If they've bookmarked a reader-insert, it's often because the prose or characterization impressed them. It's a backdoor method to finding stories that might not have massive engagement but are artistically respected within the fandom.

Trevor Matai had already made himself an enemy of half the school just by being the smartest person in the class. So when he won the student body presidency, they just found newer and louder reasons to come for him.
What he was not prepared for was jerking awake from a nightmare in the middle of class, calling out Sean Pierre's name in front of everyone, and having a very visible and undeniable ‘boner’ to go along with it. Does that mean he got ‘bricked up' for Sean.
That was quite unbelievable because Sean Pierre, who is a star quarterback and the school's golden boy, happens to be the most aggressively straight guy Trevor had ever been forced to share oxygen with. So, Sean was the absolute last person his subconscious should have chosen.
And now the whole school knew.
What followed was supposed to be punishment as a result of the two clashing over school activity funds. Instead, something neither of them planned for started building because the closer Sean kept him, the harder it became to pretend that none of it meant anything.
But Sean was the star quarterback and there were rules that came with that title. And wanting Trevor wasn't something the world around them was going to quietly allow.
Two boys with two different dreams that couldn't both survive this situation, which seemed like a rivalry that had already drawn blood and a romantic feeling between them that refused to take note of that.
Society had already written the rules, but they were about to break those rules and rewrite them.

All I wanted was a one-night stand with a random guy, just to get back at my boyfriend, who had insulted me for never being able to feel anything with him.
So, I left Brooklyn with my best friend, Ashley, to spend spring break in Cabo. The deal was simple: have fun like a normal young adult and hook up with any guy... just to prove a point.
I ended up in the bed of a man with the most mesmerizing eyes I’d ever seen—a man I knew absolutely nothing about.
He pleased me in ways I didn’t think were possible.
Every touch, every kiss, every whispered brush of his hands against my skin ignited a hunger I never knew I had.
But when I woke up the next morning, the stranger was gone. I thought it was just a forgotten one-night stand, someone I’d never see again.
Until I found out he was my new statistics professor.
It was supposed to be one meaningless night, but now I crave him in ways I never knew were possible.
Even knowing he could be my downfall, I still want him.
Still crave him.
Still want him to ruin me in whatever way he desires.
Stanford Pines from 'Gravity Falls' shows up in x Reader stuff more than you might think. He's this driven, slightly messy genius carrying a lifetime of guilt, which makes him a magnet for hurt/comfort scenarios. I see a lot where the reader is a fellow researcher stumbling upon something strange in the woods, or maybe a new assistant at the Mystery Shack who notices the portal schematics under his work. The 'fixing him' trope runs strong—quiet moments patching up his metal arm after a lab accident, or him finally breaking down about Bill Cipher's betrayal while the reader just listens.
Then there's the opposite: Stanford as the anchor for a reader who's lost or running from something. His parallel dimension knowledge gets used as a metaphor for feeling out of place. It's less about epic adventures and more about two people with heavy baggage finding a weird, quiet understanding in a backroom full of weirdness. The portal serves as a great plot device too, either pulling the reader in from another world or threatening to take Stanford away again, forcing a confession. I think what makes it work is that his character has this immense loneliness built in, so inserting a 'you' to bridge that gap feels surprisingly natural within his established story.
Finding good stuff for that pairing can be a bit of a trek since it's not as huge as some of the main ships. Honestly, my first stop is always Archive of Our Own. Their tag system is a lifesaver—you can filter by Kirishima/Eijirou, then sort by kudos or bookmarks. The trick is to add 'Original Character(s)' or 'OC' to your search filters. I've found some absolute gems that way, stories where the OCs actually have depth and don't just feel like reader inserts.
Sometimes Wattpad has a few surprises, but the quality is way more hit-or-miss. You really have to dig through pages of results, and the rating system isn't as reliable as AO3's community-driven kudos. Tumblr can be useful if you search the right tags; writers often cross-post snippets or links there. It's less organized, but I've stumbled upon some fantastic WIPs that way.
