384 pages or so in my edition, but who cares? The book is a rocket ship of a read. Once you start, it’s like reading the whole thing in one sitting. At one point, I had to look down and see how far I was. But honestly, you shouldn’t worry too much about the page count of this book. It’s one of those that makes time disappear while you’re reading. Just read it.

The well-worn copy of 'Nothing to Lose' by Paul Bently that I have on my shelf appears to be a thick book. In reality, it is only 384 pages or so. The publication of the book has been variations of the same throughout different publishers in various regions. The pages of this thriller fly through in the latter half of the book.

I lent this to a friend who read it in one weekend. Apparently he was ranting and raving about how he'd just burnt through the book in such quick time. High-stakes thriller fans won't care about the page-count and will probably get through this in a similar fashion, frantically turning pages to reach the end.

My copy is 384 pages long but a thriller is a book that is usually devoured within a few days by fans of the genre and so this book was a ‘spot of trouble’ and I had devoured it within two days (despite the short chapters which read very quickly and were ideal for a late night reading binge) reading it until sunrise the next day as I kept saying to myself ‘just read this one chapter’.

As noted above, page counts for paperback editions can vary (e.g. my edition runs to 384 pages) but for the most part these are decent lengths for a thriller – long enough to develop and sustain tension but not so long that they meander on. Obviously older editions may run to fewer pages, but then again you can always check the ISBN to confirm the edition you are looking for. This is a very immersive read – so much so that I hardly noticed the page count at all. Reading was so much fun that I barely even registered how long it was – although my hatred of the main character’s very-bad-for-him decisions was always plain to me!

How many pages are in the lost book?

I have no idea how long ‘The Lost Book’ is supposed to be. Every so often someone comes up with a new reference to ‘The Lost Book’ – some obscure passage in a private diary, a footnote in a biography – and for a while they go round telling everyone that it was 10 pages long, or 1,000. It’s all a great story, far better than any actual number. And it remains unknowable, just like Schrödinger’s novel – 10 pages long, 1,000 pages long – until someone opens it. And no one ever will.

How many pages are in the book Breathe?

318 pages in the first hardcover edition of this book, according to my last night’s shelf re-organizing. Large enough to immerse you in reading and yet you wouldn’t even notice how many pages there are in it – till the middle sections (ca. 120-180 pages) slightly lag behind, but believe me – it’s worth perseverance! This book was initially planned by its author as a novella but then the characters developed so much that he ended up enlarging it to this current volume size – and it does breathe! (Literally, I hadn’t intended to use this word).

how many pages is don quixote

Cervantes needs a companion – not a book, but a guide. It would be really useful to have a few pages summarizing the historical context of the book or an analysis of the individual chapters. As it stands, the page count could be mitigated by reading the book as if you were learning about the Spanish Golden Age. The humor in novels and romantic stories that Cervantes parodies would be so much greater if you had an understanding of them. So read Cervantes as a project, not just as a book. The pages become steps in your deeper education.

how many pages is a romance novel

I get to count front matter and back matter, right? So that means the copyright page and the dedication and the table of contents and the author's note and the preview of the next book all count as well. That's another 20 pages or so of non-story. An ebook lists all locations of a book, so a book of 350 locations is 350 'pages' of story. But in reality, that only translates to 320 pages of actual written story, not 350. This is one of my bugaboos when judging a book by its length. I have to flip to the start of Chapter 1 and the end of the book's last Chapter to get a true story length. Some publishers are better than others at counting up the actual number of story pages in a book of a given page length. For example, a 380-page hardcover might only contain 350 pages of written story. It's a small difference, but one that matters to the truly page-count-conscious.

How many pages are in Shatter Me book?

A more practical view of the book would be that when reading ‘Shatter Me’ on a reading app, the book is counted as having between 340 and 360 pages depending on the font size. I read this book on my phone during my lunch breaks and it took me about a week and a half to read. Each chapter is quite short and so it is very easy to read a few pages during breaks and feel satisfied that you have read ‘just one more chapter’. The core story is not changed by this, but the official page count for ‘Shatter Me’ is 352 pages. As a result, this is a great book for someone who is trying to get back into reading as it is very digestible.

a little life how many pages

The book is a physical thing, part of its aura. The 720 or so pages of the paperback edition weigh heavily in your hands. The themes of the book are reflected in its physical form. I read the book as a paperback, the spine eventually cracking completely, the covers becoming flexible and worn from their many travels. The book became a object in my life for a few weeks, something that I would pull down from my shelf and begin reading once more. As opposed to an ebook, I feel that this is a book that should be read in print. There is nothing like feeling the weight of a book in your hands, seeing how far you are into the story and marking your place with a bookmark between the thick pages of printed paper. The page count of the book translates into a physical presence. The book sits on my coffee table, a quiet and imposing object that reminds me that I am reading a long and complex story. The book is a commitment that you can see and feel.

how many pages is little women

For me, I never actually finished the book. I tried to read it three times but every time I got stuck around page 300 when all the main characters become adults. I have problems with the change in tone and the way the book shifts from child’s play to marriage plots of various European characters. To me, the book that I loved is only around 300 pages or so of fabulous childhood adventures, eccentric relatives, screwed up adults and numerous clever plot twists and turns. As for the rest of the book, I’ll admit that I’m in the minority and that most people finish the book and in fact love the majority of it. However, for me, I just don’t have the energy to keep reading and I leave it at 300 pages or so. Maybe one day I’ll go back to it, but for now, the reputation of the book is just too much and it makes me feel like I HAVE to read the whole thing, which is just not worth it. Just read the parts of the book that you enjoy and don’t worry about the rest. Life is too short!

How many pages are in The Glass Castle book?

3 Answers2026-04-17
One funny thing that happened with me and “The Glass Castle” by Jeannette Walls is that I accidentally bought the large print edition of the book. So, instead of the normal 288 pages or so, my copy ran to over 400 pages due to the huge print. But don’t let the small number of pages in the regular edition of “The Glass Castle” fool you. Even though the book is small, it packs a big punch. I lent my copy of “The Glass Castle” to my friend who is usually a fantasy novel kind of gal. She said that even though the book was small, it had managed to emotionally wreck her. Yeah. That’s how big this book is.

How many pages are in The Hobbit by Tolkien?

7 Answers2026-04-17
For comparison, the graphic novel adaptation of The Hobbit by David Wenzel comes in at about 130 pages. As expected, the more visual graphic novel format can get the same story told across in fewer pages of prose than The Hobbit novel. Tolkien uses all those extra pages to relate his unique narrative voice, to include all the songs from the novel, and lots of very descriptive asides too. Those are things you’re paying for.
