Is No Man'S Land Manga Finished?

I lost track around halfway through the chapters. Then one day updates just stopped and I read online that it had been wrapped up by the artist and his team who had either run out of contract or story to tell. So that’s good news for anyone who wants to read a completed story rather than a never-ending manhua serialization. One thing to note about Chinese web novel adaptations is that they can be spread across different apps for reasons of licensing. Generally speaking, you can find a complete chapter count for any given manhua on a reputable aggregator site. In this case, since the manhua has concluded, it’s far more easily recommended than a currently-hiatusing work of the form. And you can buy/read the whole thing! (The middle was moving apace when I read it, but I assume that was just a function of the translation batch I was reading rather than any actual failing on the part of the original.)

‘Blame!’ finished years ago and its influence is widespread, notably in games such as ‘Sable’ and ‘Control’. Nihei’s dark, biomechanical and frequently smudged pen work makes each page a viewpoint into the ruins of a long dead civilization. The manga completing is actually a positive and that final shot of Killy walking away is more memorable than most series’ current cliffhangers. Existential science fiction of the highest order and if that’s your bag then ‘Blame!’ is a must-read.

The serialization is still ongoing albeit slowly, and Creator Akihito Tsukushi is involved with the anime as well. However, the core of the work is the manga and it is continuing. We follow the main characters into the 7th Layer. This area is different from the adventures that occurred in the upper layers and is horror of a surreal genre. The rules established in the upper layers are being broken and are being transformed in unexpected ways. It’s both fascinating and scary to read. I’m reading the official versions of the manga, which have excellent translations and superior printing. The irregular serialization has taught me to appreciate each volume as a complete, self-contained work that can be read and even re-read and studied in detail.

READ FINISHED. The book was read by me and by other people in the reading club one volume at a time. There are no more chapters to read. It’s a really beautiful complete narrative loop that explores the theme of building family and ties back to the isolations of the two main characters at the start.

The information on this series' status is fact-based, based on the official Japanese publisher's website, and several online manga databases. It is currently still on-going and was first published in 2013. New chapters of the manga are released monthly, although there are occasional breaks in between. The published volumes of the series are also still being released to date. As there has been no recent information or news posts about this series being completed, it can be safely assumed that the work is NOT finished yet. The scope of the story has increased quite a lot recently, suggesting the author is playing the long game. As such, it's not a good idea to try to read the raws for this series unless you're willing to put in the time and effort to read through it all.

Recently the light novel series ended. And since the light novels are the source material for the series, the anime which is several years old, and the recent video games, there is little energy left in the series for a manga adaptation. Any new work would likely be an anime series, and even that is highly unlikely. In the meantime all remaining energy would be spent bringing out new games. The 'hiatus' is now permanent. As for the databases marking the manga as 'ongoing', I call that a mere technicality. In practical terms the project is over and done with, the book closed. To anyone holding out hope for this: give up. The LNs are the definitive ending to the series, and the manga is a closed chapter of the history of the series. It ends with an ellipsis, not a full stop.

Ongoing. Incredibly slow. It has been so long since the last volume (Vol.14) that Vol.15 came as a huge surprise to many. The author is involved in the anime adaptation as well as other projects. The light novels are the basis of the story and there is still so much to adapt. Some fear that the ending will be rushed in order to hit a certain volume number as there are so many factions and characters. Momonga’s journey from cautious guild master to feared sovereign is still being explored in depth, particularly the deep politics involved. The side stories are crucial as well to better understanding some of the characters, such as the rather long ‘Vampire Princess’ sidestory which almost forms a complete novel on its own. But that’s a commitment I can get behind. You’re not going to be able to read these on a certain release date or anything. It’s more of a wonderful surprise.

I’m still enjoying Fairy Tail: 100 Year Quest. I’m pretty much treating it as a weekly serial and looking for new chapters each week. The story has a nice balance of old and new. Natsu is still his typical, nutty self but the new enemies are a great deal of threat. The artwork has improved as well, and some panels look as if they were shot for a movie. As for the fandom for this series, it seems to be alternatively raving and then complaining for more. Of course, everyone wants to see where the ‘quest’ of Fairy Tail is going to end up but at the same time, no one is ready for it to end. I’ll just have to read it for as long as it lasts, I guess.

I have found it very difficult to find a status update for The Charismatic Charlie Wade web novel. The story follows a fairly standard webnovel plot where a lowly protagonist rises to power, uncovering secrets about his family. When I entered the story, the main dramatic question of Charlie’s true identity and how he would confront his enemies had been largely solved. From what I understand, the undervalued son-in-law had proven his worth and lived happily ever after. However, as is common with webnovels of this nature, there is a lot of scope for additional plot and the author could continue to expand on the world, introduce more business rivals for Charlie and even explore the backstories of the supporting characters in great detail. For me, the translation and distribution via various international websites is also unclear and it’s not rare to find a single novel with different volumes at different websites, or with an unclear update schedule. From what I gather from novel communities as well as other Chinese web novels, The Charismatic Charlie Wade originally had a clear endpoint written by its author. He resolved the main dramatic question of Charlie’s true identity and faced off against those who looked down on him as an ‘undeserved’ son-in-law. The main storyline follows Charlie the underappreciated son-in-law proving himself to be worth as much as or even more than his female relatives. After that, there really isn’t much more to say about that particular conflict or status update. The last translated chapters ended with the main family conflict reaching a neat conclusion. (Note: I have seenCharlie Wade postings continued under the name of post-story updates on certain platforms i.e. novel-length-length-length super ‘updates’ – e.g.,”Charlie Wade updates Ongoing”, sometimes even ‘wheel’-style novels etc. of which I suppose could make someone believe that the story is indeed ongoing. Some novels by Chinese authors do in fact continue under the original title of the novel long after the original author has ‘finished’ writing it – much like author’s have done in the past by adding numerous sequels and side stories. If you want to confirm the end of a novel and read it all the way through to its conclusion, I rely on a handful of the largest Chinese novel hosting websites. Even then, it’s usually stable (un płocker te winnej,W that the author has stopped officially releasing new story volumes long before, meaning it’s likely complete – and that’s generally how the series actually ends.)

Oh yeah, it dropped. No ending. I read through everything that was there in one sitting, and then the silence after the last panel was kind of ironic to the title of the book. Don’t read this thinking it’s going to end somewhere.
