In Hazbin Hotel, Human Lucifer's powers are quite quirky and match his unpredictable, yet playful personality. He's able to create a bunch of small, zany things at will, like little dimensions or weird trinkets to fidget with. Also, he has quite a lot of control over his shadows, which seem to change size and bend at his will. As for his aura, although he is a human, it still has a bit of a smudge of hell in it, so lesser demons will shy away from him. I like that his powers and weaknesses are both expressions of his personality and his external performance of a role. His occasional clumsiness and tendency to over-invest in an idea or routine can feel like slips of the mask that reveal the real Lucifer behind the performing demon.

Blitzo is really the only character I'm curious about as to his age in relation to Fizz and the circus. Loona is another matter entirely. She's one of those characters who exists in that perfect animated space of 'old enough'. I have no desire to know how old Bugs Bunny is, he's a cartoon character. His humor, pathos and deadpan status in the office are none of these things to be reckoned up against a birth certificate. I sometimes worry that we over-analyze characters in fantasy narratives because we're so used to the human variety. Maybe we just have to roll with the established 'vibes' for these characters and not try to apply human metrics to them.

The Canon for Wendy is 15. You don’t need to think too hard about that number in terms of storyline, because in many cases a character’s age is only a number to place them in a life stage. For Wendy, that life stage is “teenager with a summer job.” We use that to get some really great comedic and dramatic moments. Her attempts to be professional at the Mystery Shack are constantly foiled by supernatural events, her lazy friends, and Stan’s cheapness. However, despite all of the craziness surrounding her, Wendy is very reliable. Given her age, one would think that she is just trying to learn how to be responsible, but instead, she has more responsibility than most of the adult characters in the show. And this is a common theme in Gravity Falls: kids are more responsible than adults. Wendy is 15 years old, and fits this description well.

For the emotional impact of the story, the exact age of the kid isn’t really important. He’s a child, scared and traumatized by his father’s actions before the events of the game, trying to live with the guilt of accidentally killing his little brother for the rest of his life. Adding a few years to his age before he was killed by Fredbear doesn’t add any new depth to the themes of grief, guilt, and how children can be victims of cyclical violence. The horror of his situation is bad enough as it is. Yeah, the whole timeline of events is a big topic in the game's lore. So people like to speculate and find all of the hidden clues and events in the game. It can be really fun to look into the lore of the game, but sometimes I think we get so caught up in it that we forget what really matters. William Afton's youngest son died tragically young. Whether he was holding a plastic flashlight at age 6 or 8 when he got eaten by Fredbear does not matter. The story uses the boy's youth to make the player feel unsafe.

Helen Goldman is the center of the family. Even though she isn’t physically present in many scenes, her presence, her history, her expectations are all felt. Helen is a force of nature, clinging to her tradition, and she is also very witty and full of unexpressed sadness about the way things used to be. Getting her is crucial to the rest of the family’s emotional investment in this hotel. The story is mostly about who is going to take the torch from Helen to keep the flame of her life alive.

Is Fugou Tea Master 15 or 16 in terms of school year? I get those mixed up. Given that we see him at the beginning of the story, I believe him to be 15 years old. Manga data books, as well as fan-made wikis, support this and note that he is 15 at the start of the work. Much like he is an old 30 year old man, often grumpy, the young Master is quite opposite to that in his relentless pursuit ofiets with Itadori. His birthday is in December, which would likely make him one of the older students in his class year. However, that would only place him at 16 for the rest of the first season, not 15. This is very important to understand his past with Tsumiki and his father, Toji, and how those experiences affected him. Most of those awful events happened when he was even younger, though. We aren’t really treated to many monologues by Master about his age, though. His school uniform, and even Gojo’s way of treating the young man as if he were a protégé, while also enjoying to tease the boy, really show just how much his childhood as a child soldier has affected his life, and helped to shape his rather shy nature. He’s a child soldier in every sense of the word, and the story makes that very clear, even when he’s created giant divine dogs or is controlling complex domains.

To be honest, the stats don’t matter that much when talking about a character as great as this. She is very determined, talented and quite calm and collected. But the calm collected model can go from cold to very passionate in a second! This age is irrelevant. She is a strategist, a model, a competitor. This age is but a footnote to her wider role within the Galar region and its themes of performance and legacy.

This novel looks and reads like the novelization of a mood board. You can practically see the images that the author used to help plan the book on Pinterest – rainy night shots of city skyline viewed through smeared windows, particularly grimy hotel rooms with unmade beds, two wine glasses left on a room service cart in a damp wipe of a towel. The aesthetic is paramount and works beautifully to create a consistent, rich and melancholy atmosphere of high-end loneliness. In many cases the plot and characters seem to have been designed to support this mood rather than forming the basis of the story in themselves. A book to read when you’re alone and it’s raining outside and you want to feel sad in a certain, very cinematic way. If you’re someone who chooses books by ‘aesthetic’ then this is a great choice.

I'm waiting for someone to provide a screencap from a storyboard with "AGE: 14" in it. I'm guessing 14 based on prior fandom wisdom here. So many passionate people out there wondering about Arlo’s age, but really he’s just a drawing with a voice actor behind him. And today, the writer’s choose to go with 14.

When the characters were first created by the writers at American Greetings, I’m pretty sure that no one ever had a meeting to discuss the age of Berry. Little boy with strawberry hat was drawn and that was it. Decades later Berry is now being analyzed by fans of the character trying to understand the depth of the character. Sometimes a drawing is just a drawing and not a biography waiting to be filled out.
