Honestly, I've been bouncing between sites for years, and it really depends on what flavor of Spider-Man you're hungry for. Archive of Our Own is the undisputed king for sheer volume and variety, especially for ship-focused stuff. The tagging system there is a lifesaver when you're hunting for something specific like Peter & MJ post-'No Way Home' or, my personal rabbit hole, Otto Octavius redemption arcs.

But if you're looking for the classic, long-form, soap-opera style stories that feel like they could be actual comic runs, FanFiction.net still has a massive back catalog. The UI is ancient, sure, and sorting can be a chore, but some of those decade-old fics have a depth you just don't see as often nowadays. A lot of authors cross-post, but I usually check AO3 first, then poke around FF.net if I'm still craving more.

Sometimes the best stuff isn't on the big archives at all. I've found incredible, niche Spider-Verse team-ups on smaller forums dedicated to specific comic runs or even on Tumblr, buried in tags.

Wattpad's got a huge amount of Spidey content, but it's a very different vibe—lots of reader-inserts, high school AUs, and romantic fluff, especially centered on Tom Holland's portrayal. It's where fandom trends blow up fastest, like those 'Peter Parker x Sister' stories that were everywhere for a minute. For the popular, easily digestible, and often wildly tropey stuff, it's the spot.

Spider-Man fanfiction is everywhere, but the epicenter has to be AO3. The filters let you drill down so precisely—you can find fics about just Spider-Man 2099, or fics where Peter Parker is a teacher, or fics that are nothing but Tony Stark & Peter Parker hurt/comfort. The culture there encourages more experimental and explicit work, which covers a lot of ground the old guard sites shy away from.

I still have a soft spot for FanFiction.net's 'Adventure' section for Spidey, though. It's where a lot of the massive, world-building crossover events live, like those 'Avengers meet Spider-Man' fics or ones where he gets thrown into the world of 'My Hero Academia'. The writing quality is hit-or-miss, but when you hit, it's a glorious, 300k-word binge. Don't sleep on SpaceBattles or Sufficient Velocity either, if you like your fanfic with a heavy side of power-wanking and technical analysis.
