Once you read the domestic moments with the extras for Lu Feng, An Ze, etc. You’ll see tons of fan-art of them in casual clothes, Lu Feng with a plant, An Ze with a plant, them cooking together, etc. All of these draw out the characters in more relaxed settings and once again bring more depth to the story. These can also give off a “sequel” vibe and artists interpret the little moments given in the extras in tons of creative and loving ways. So, after reading an extra chapter, scrolling through the tag for the extras on Pixiv or Twitter is another way to extend your experience of the story. The fans’ visual creativity can actually build upon the foundation provided by the author of the story. And it’s all so vibrant and living. Wait, you guys are sleeping on Rebecca's Tale by Sally Beauman. Yeah, it's not a direct "what happened next" to Maxim and the narrator, but it's way more interesting imo. It's set 20 years later and is basically a mystery about Rebecca's past, with multiple POVs, including her actual diary. The du Maurier estate even approved it. It paints Rebecca in a totally different, more sympathetic light, which du Maurier herself said she never intended to do... but I kinda love it? It's messy and revisionist, but it answers way more of the "key mysteries" than Hill's book ever did.

Although there is no sequel to Precious, the novel ends on a very high note. The other works by this author are not connected to Precious, yet the novels deal with issues of trying to overcome many obstacles, finally achieving success. People who enjoyed reading Precious will likely enjoy other works by this author. These novels carry the same message and power that made Precious so incredible and are therefore worth reading if you are searching for more novels that carry the same message and have the same effect on readers.

I just got word from the owner of my local bookstore that there were early talks with a sales rep about a graphic novel version of the story. This could be a good way to continue the story in a visual format, exploring different corners of the world in which the novel was set. The graphic novel could capture the silent, non-verbal communications of the characters and the dark, oppressive landscapes in which they existed. If a graphic novel were to do well, perhaps a prose version of the sequel could follow. Everything seems to be a test these days and so maybe the graphic novel will be followed by an audio drama, and if that does well then we’ll see about a novel version of Book 2.

No official sequels, alternate endings or even side stories have been written by Samira Nayebagha. However, if you’re interested in reading more stories within this universe, there are hundreds of unofficial sequels, alternate endings and side stories. Most are hosted on websites such as Archive of Our Own and FanFiction.net. While there aren’t a huge number of stories in relation to a very popular book, there are plenty of stories for a book of this caliber. You can find stories written from an alternative version of Jason, from Daniela’s perspective, about what happened to the original Jason from the winning timeline, and even humorous crossovers with other characters. As fans create their own ways of continuing a story, often the writer can stay true to the author’s tone and ideas better than an actual official sequel. Just be warned that unlike an official sequel, a fan-written story is not going to be part of the ‘official’ canon. But it’s a lot of fun to read and can even be thought of as reading another ‘branch’ in the multiverse that the author has created.

Re-reading Feed this past week, the end still feels like it’s permanently sealed. Wendy and Anderson are just not novelists to write traditional sequels to works. Instead, the author continues to craft alternate universes full of thought-provoking themes, where there are no guarantees that even primary characters will be returned to in future works. Rather, the majority of Anderson’s novels, including Feed, serve as perfect stand-alone examples of his innovative work. For a critique of extreme consumerism through the lens of extreme technology, Feed is absolute perfection, a thematic capsule that would only begin to suffer were Anderson to proceed to write a direct sequel to follow the remaining lives of Titus and Violet. Though thought-provoking in its own right, other novels by the author are equally excellent in terms of scope, alternative historical settings and engaging thematic commentary. Octavian Nothing, for example, is comprised of two novels: The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing, Tale #1: The Poes(es), and The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing, Tale #2: The Bride of Book ‘T’. To acquire exposure to more of Anderson’s tremendously incisive writing, look to those. This is a book that needs to be a capsule of an idea – a specific, perfect moment in time to convey a particular message. Adding more to Feed would somehow dilute the perfectness of the ending, explain away the ambiguity that has lingered so hauntingly with me ever since.

I’ve spent way too long searching for this over the past year or so. Payback originally was a web novel on KakaoPage that did get a sequel series, however the English translation only reached the first volume of the novel. I believe the raws for this series are out there somewhere. The situation is unfortunately typical for Western audiences of light novels: There is more to read, but it hasn’t yet been translated for the local market. Hence, the reader is left with Fan-Translations that tend to vary in quality.

Unfortunately, there is no sequel to One Summer. Another very emotional and deep standalone novel is The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. Another heart-wrenching but beautiful novel about choices and their consequences is The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman.

I’ve been trying to keep up with all the gossip regarding the eagerly awaited follow-up to ‘Rainmaker’. Although nothing has been officially confirmed by the author in terms of a sequel to ‘Rainmaker’ (although he does leave a lot of plot threads dangling at the end of the book and makes all the main characters very ‘human’ so can definitely see a sequel to this being done well and following the main character as he tries to pick up the pieces of his life and move on from his mentor), I would hope that the author would return to the world of ‘Rainmaker’ for a sequel. There are already a lot of plot threads laid out that have been left dangling at the end of the book and I would hope that the author wouldn’t leave too many of them dangling for too long. There are hints dropped in interviews with the author who says he is not finished with the Rainmaker world and is working on new ideas for the characters. It is well known that the author takes his time to produce sequels of equal impact to the first book and so when he does get round to writing the follow-up to ‘Rainmaker’ it will be worth the wait. ‘Rainmaker’ was an excellent novel that was full of very real characters and had a great story with lots of twists and turns and I have no idea where the author could take the story next but I’m sure it will be brilliant. While I wait for hopefully the sequel to Rainmaker to be announced, I’ve been rereading parts of the book, searching for things that I had totally missed when I read them the first time. So much foreshadowing in the last chapters of the book, I get the feeling that the author is laying the groundwork for the second installment of the Rainmaker world. One of the biggest ways that I see this is in the way that the main character’s relationships evolve. Most notably with his estranged family members, but also with a few of his friends, as well as the man that has been acting as a sort of mentor to him in his quest for recovery. The author occasionally posts on his social media accounts about his writing process and I almost despair every time I see a snippet of something new that he’s working on. Hopefully it’ll be the sequel to Rainmaker.

I also read somewhere that Radcliffe was going to do a sequel from the landlady's point of view but couldn't write it because then she would be too human. He said that he couldn’t give her an internal monologue because then she would be less of a force of nature and less of a monster. There are a few interesting interview clips online where Radcliffe discusses this conundrum.
