Stronger Than Pain

Stronger Than Pain

"Did you kill him?" The detective asked again."I've already answered you like a thousand times... Yes, he was a monster. Yes, he beat me up a lot but I didn't do it. I didn't kill Jude!" Amanda replied."I'm sorry. I know what it's like to be a victim of abuse and all that, but you need to understand that murder is a serious case too. You'll have to forgive us for asking you continually it's just that you were the closest to him we've got here.""I wasn't. There was someone else he was seeing that knew a lot about him than I ever did," Amanda replied.*******The night was growing colder and the rains seemed to have agitated in full force. Amanda sat on one of the soft leather chairs that squeaked with her every move in the living room with tears in her eyes as she watched the rains drop on the floor forming small pools and waited for Jude to come back. She was worried sick about his whereabouts even though all his presence caused her were pain and more tears. The protruding bump on her stomach, made it quite difficult to move around at ease so she was stuck with calling his busied line while she watched the clock tick its way into the midnight mark.*****A heart rending story told differently. Stronger than Pain captures a dysfunctional Nigerian home where a callous man, beats his wife on a daily basis. Time flies and now he is dead. All the characters have a reason to kill him, but she's their number one suspect. The Question still remains, who pulled the trigger?

The Only Hope

The Only Hope

Many times I have seen people struggling to talk with strangers or in public places. This was due to anxiety and nervousness that happens unintentionally in our body. We can’t control them but have to overcome them. I came across the word “Glossophobia” in 2014 when I was working on how to overcome stage fears. I have seen my friends and myself struggling to talk with strangers or to speak in public. There are cases where I have acted speechless. This is where the idea arrived and I have created a character “Abhirath Srivastav” who cannot talk with strangers or in public places due to a phobia called “Glossophobia”. The Character Abirath Srivastav does not represent any real life personality, it is solely of my imagination. The story “ The only hope” is a love story set in the style of 1994. The story is about an orphan boy who suffers from glossophobia; he can't talk to strangers or in public places. He finds it hard to stay in an orphanage and escapes to find a better place in his life. He meets a Christian girl in an unknown village and becomes her best friend. He speaks to her, but not to any other villagers. Things are not, however, what was expected. Half of the villagers migrate to another place for work, and they take the boy with them. The boy has to leave his favourite place and his only best friend. After 12 years, however, he meets her and here how the story takes its turn.

How can a book help you overcome challenges?

Books have this magical ability to transport us into different worlds and perspectives, especially when we face challenges in our lives. I've always found solace in reading, whether it's a classic like 'Pride and Prejudice' or something more contemporary like 'The Hunger Games.' When I dive into these stories, they become a refuge from my own problems. Characters like Katniss Everdeen exemplify resilience and courage, teaching me that it's possible to face overwhelming odds. You might find yourself identifying with their struggles and triumphs, which can ignite a sense of hope and determination within you.

Moreover, reading fosters empathy. Understanding the challenges faced by diverse characters can help us relate better to our own situations. For instance, the character development in 'The Fault in Our Stars' highlights the complexities of illness and living life fully despite it. These narratives can inspire real change in how we approach our personal challenges. Plus, they often provide practical coping mechanisms or insights into our psyche, leaving us feeling less isolated in our struggles.

Lastly, I can't overlook the simple joy that books bring. Just curling up with a good novel can lift my spirits and provide a much-needed distraction. It's like having a conversation with a friend who understands you without judgment, allowing you to recharge and come back to your challenges with a fresh perspective.

Which books focus on conquering personal struggles?

'The Alchemist' by Paulo Coelho is a book that truly resonates with me when it comes to conquering personal struggles. It follows the journey of Santiago, a young shepherd who dreams of finding treasure. Through his quest, he faces countless obstacles, but each challenge helps him grow and learn more about himself and his desires. The narrative beautifully highlights the importance of following one’s dreams, no matter how daunting the journey may seem.

What captivates me is the symbolic significance behind every trial Santiago encounters. It's like each setback is a reflection of our own lives, reminding us that struggles are not just roadblocks; they are vital lessons that shape our character. The way Coelho weaves philosophy into the story makes it a delightful read. If you enjoy stories with profound life lessons and an adventurous spirit, definitely pick this one up!

Are there any top books inspirational for overcoming adversity?

One book that really stands out to me when it comes to tackling adversity is 'The Alchemist' by Paulo Coelho. This story encapsulates the journey of self-discovery and the importance of pursuing your dreams, even when the odds are stacked against you. The protagonist, Santiago, faces numerous challenges throughout his travels, from losing his flock of sheep to being robbed in Tangier. Yet, what I love about this novel is that it’s not just about physical challenges but emotional and spiritual ones too. It really resonates with anyone who has ever felt lost or unsure about their path in life. Coelho beautifully illustrates that every setback is just a stepping stone toward personal growth. The message of listening to your heart and recognizing the signs from the universe really encourages readers to keep pushing forward, and that provides a bittersweet sort of hope. I’ve personally found this book to be a source of inspiration in tough times, reminding me that every struggle is part of a larger journey. Plus, the way Coelho weaves in elements of magical realism makes it feel like you’re embarking on an enchanting adventure rather than merely reading a self-help book.

On the other hand, a more modern classic that hits close to home is 'Educated' by Tara Westover. This memoir narrates her incredible journey from a strict and isolated upbringing in rural Idaho to earning a PhD from Cambridge University. What astonishes me about Westover’s story is her relentless pursuit of knowledge in the face of overwhelming adversity. Growing up without formal education and within a family that was deeply suspicious of conventional societal norms, she embodies the struggle against ignorance and oppression. The raw honesty with which she shares her experiences strikes a chord, particularly her battles against familial loyalty and her thirst for personal growth. I often reflect on how it relates to my own challenges; pursuing education in unconventional environments can sometimes feel like swimming against the current. Westover’s ultimate success, despite her humble beginnings, inspires anyone who feels trapped by circumstance. Her message rings true: you hold the power to change your narrative. Both 'The Alchemist' and 'Educated' remind us that adversity can refine our character if we embrace it and continue to seek our true purpose in life.

What are the best inspirational books for overcoming challenges?

I recently moved to a new city completely alone for a job that fell through within a month. That low point is when a friend shoved 'The Obstacle Is the Way' by Ryan Holiday into my hands. Honestly, I almost dismissed it as another pop-Stoicism book. But the way it reframes problems as necessary fuel, not things to be avoided, rewired my brain during those awful weeks of job hunting. It’s less about fluffy motivation and more about a practical, almost mechanical, process for breaking down setbacks.

I paired it with 'Man’s Search for Meaning' by Viktor Frankl, which is a heavier read, obviously. The contrast is what worked for me. Holiday gives you the tactical mindset, while Frankl offers the profound, non-negotiable reason to employ it. Reading them back-to-back, I stopped seeing my situation as a unique catastrophe and started treating it like a project. I still keep notes from both books on my phone.

Where can I buy the 'Overwhelmed' book?

Oh, I adore 'Overwhelmed'! Such a relatable read for anyone juggling life’s chaos. You can snag it pretty much anywhere books are sold—Amazon’s a solid bet for quick delivery, and they often have both paperback and Kindle versions. If you’re like me and love supporting local spots, indie bookstores usually order it for you if they don’t have it in stock. I grabbed my copy from Bookshop.org because they share profits with small shops, which feels nice.

Don’t forget libraries! Mine had a waitlist, but it was worth it for the free read. Audiobook fans should check Audible or Libby—the narration really adds to the vibe. Pro tip: if you’re tight on cash, used sites like ThriftBooks sometimes have dirt-cheap copies. Happy reading—this one’s a game-changer for stress management!

Who is the author of 'Overwhelmed' book?

The book 'Overwhelmed' was written by Brigid Schulte, a journalist who really digs into how modern life feels like a never-ending to-do list. I stumbled upon her work while researching time management, and her approach is refreshing—she doesn’t just blame individuals for being 'bad at productivity' but examines societal pressures. Her research on 'time confetti' (those fragmented moments we mistake for free time) hit me hard—it’s like she peeked into my calendar!

What’s cool is how Schulte blends personal stories with data, like her interviews with neuroscientists and harried parents. It’s not a dry self-help book; it reads like a conversation with a friend who gets it. After finishing, I started questioning why I felt guilty for taking breaks—turns out, that’s part of her point.
