There are currently official translations of Prime Minister & I available as an e-book and/or print book through a variety of online retailers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo. Although there are occasionally fan translations of light novels posted on certain websites, they are typically removed by copyright lawyers within a day or two. If you’re looking for something with a smart female protagonist in a somewhat historical setting, I Would Recommend ‘I Was Reborn As The Most Powerful Princess In History?!’ This light novel is about a modern office worker who was reborn as a princess in a royal family in the past. Using her knowledge of her past life and her politics experience, she outmaneuvers her opponents in the treacherous royal court.

A tangential note on translations: The biggest fans of a given series are often better resources for translations than random sites. For example, the r/KusuriyaNoHitorigoto (The Apothecary Diaries) community has a large pinned post or a special sidebar with official translation links. In addition, the various Discord servers for the given series will have a special channel or two that list official sources for their work. The biggest fans of a given work want it to succeed, and thus will heavily discourage piracy and provide links to official releases to readers looking for translated copies of the work.

They can even go in-depth about the specific translation choices made by the official translation and whether or not they fully captured the cultural nuance being portrayed. If you’re able to find the right community of fans for a series then you can enhance your reading of the series and find the correct legal sources to read the series on with ease.

I have been searching far and wide for translations for 'Apothecary Diaries' fans to read and I managed to find a few treasures along the way. NovelUpdates is a great place to start your search for translated light novels, as well as links to translation groups. The reviews on the site from the community are also very helpful in deciding whether a translation is worth buying or not.

One thing to also keep an eye out for are fan translation sites of light novels, like Wattpad or Scribble Hub. Many of these translations are by enthusiastic fans, but the quality can vary greatly. Be sure to check if the most current chapters have been translated.

Many communities related to anime and light novels can be found in social media platforms such as Twitter and Reddit, sharing information regarding translations, newly uploaded chapters and more. I’m even part of two or three Discord servers where users post links to recently updated translations.

Occasionally even official publishers like Yen Press will pick up a series for translation. These announcements are definitely worth paying attention to as there is nothing quite like being able to read a series officially.

This is kind of like a treasure hunt for me to find the ‘Apothecary Diaries’ translations. So far NovelUpdates has been helpful for me to find fan translations. I like that NovelUpdates organizes the translations so that it is easy to read reviews from other readers to get an idea of the translation quality.

I have found online versions of Apothecary Diaries through a couple of blogs of fans who have translated the novel, some of whom have continued to add chapters after finishing the initial translation. Each of these bloggers also includes comments on the chapters he translates. It’s fun to find a fan or two that you would have never suspected existed.

Are you asking about the web novel or the light novel? The light novel is a finished book with lots of pictures, while the web novel is the raw, unfinished work of the author, first released online chapter by chapter. There are translations of the web novel on sites such as ‘Shousetsuka ni Narou’ (aggregated on translation sites), but they are very rough and not even finished yet. They are very different from the finished light novel story and characters.

For the ‘light novel’ version of this story, J-Novel Club is your only option right now (the translation). Raw versions of the web novel might be located on obscure online sites and MtL’d by someone or another for your enjoyment, but don’t expect it to read well in most cases. The ‘light novel’ is a much tighter and more polished story, fully developed characters, and lots of beautiful illustrations. Why settle for the raw version of a work in progress when the completed work in its final form is available to you through J-Novel Club?

Where can I read light novels translation for free online?

This scenario plays out the other way: you want to pay for the work of the author, but the official translation is running years behind the end of publication of the original work. In this case, the fan translation may be 10 volumes ahead of the official English version, and it can be very tempting to just read the free fan translation instead. I support the official version as it comes out, and in the meantime I read the fan translation to keep up with the story as it unfolds. This approach satisfies my strong need to keep reading the story of which I have become very invested, while at the same time not denying revenue to the publisher and author of the work I wish to read. This is a very fair way for me to approach the problem of slow localization.

The fictional end to the novel Maomao writes a book — a textbook of all the poisons she’s tested, the cures she’s engineered, and the various medical observations she’s made along the way. The book becomes a standard text; the name of a long-dead woman becomes synonymous with knowledgeable scholarship. Maomao’s life was defined by her love of knowledge and her will to acquire it. To have that knowledge saved for future generations in order to potentially save lives is perhaps the best way that Maomao could have wished for herself to be remembered. Jinshi could facilitate the publication and distribution of her old friend’s works.

Which free book websites provide the most manga and light novels?

Your answer to this would likely depend on whether you are to read comics on a mobile or desktop device. On desktop you could likely read almost any site, if you had an adequate ad-blocker. On mobile however pop-ups and redirects can very quickly make a site unreadable. For now though I can recommend Tachiyomi (Android) pulling from extensions like Mangasee and Mangadex. On iOS you could try the beautiful Paperback app which has slightly more setup involved, but is so nice when reading that it’s worth it. I also read my light novels on the ‘ReadEra’ app which allows me to open EPUB files I download from blogs of translators for free. So the best website to read on your mobile is really to think about what the best app for your device is.

Where can I find online free book download sites for light novels?

While there are limited legal means to download free light novels, many official publishers as well as J-Novel Club offer free preview chapters and even ad-supported reading. For free web novels, there are numerous platforms that host thousands of ongoing stories. For example, the series ‘Forbidden Taboos : Steamy dark stories’ is entirely available for free reading on one of the major web novel platforms as a direct serialization of the dark romance tales with complex moral characters. You can read it all for free in your browser without looking for downloads.

What are the best book download sites for light novels?

Accessibility features are critical for enabling legitimate retailers’ online stores to function for people with disabilities, whereas ‘free’ download sites fail abysmally. While text-to-speech, varying fonts, invert background color, and being able to bookmark pages correctly are all enabled by default for e-Books sold through Kindle, Kobo and Google Play Books online stores, none of these accessibility features are guaranteed when downloading an EPUB from a personal blog or website. For someone such as myself with dyslexia, the ability to vary font sizes and spacing on my Kobo e-Reader is crucial. That one single feature alone trumps all other considerations when looking for where to purchase e-Books, and, given that all of the major online retailers already fully support me, there is no reason whatsoever to look for alternative free sources.

I kind of miss the old web. Most personal websites used to have a 'Links' page with other websites containing lots of free novels and stories etc. That was very good for discovery. Today's SEO optimized search results don't really help in that regard. Maybe webrings again?

Best sites for light novels in EPUB format?

For a specific slice of the genre, check out Royal Road (web novel, mostly free) or Scribble Hub (web novel, free). Many successful authors now offer for free download the compiled EPUB for the completed arcs or volumes of their work, either on the story page or through their Patreon. Note that quality can vary greatly from author to author, but there are some absolute gems in the progression fantasy and litRPG genres. For example, “Mother of Learning” and “The Wandering Inn” started out as web novels, and their EPUBs are available for free download.

Where to read fan-translated ebooks and pdfs of manga novels?

10 Answers2025-07-11
Recently it has become a lot harder for me to download manga, due to an influx of DMCA notices. To combat this, I use RSS feeds from the blogs of many of the translation groups. I add their blogs to an RSS reader (I use Feedly) and they notify me whenever there is an update to a series that I am following. Typically the update will be a direct download link to the cleanest version of the chapter or volume, posted on the group’s blog, allowing me to download it before it is taken down by a DMCA notice. It requires a bit of an initial setup but in the end it is very effective.

What sites let me download light novels in EPUB?

9 Answers2025-09-06
While the platform (like Kindle or Nook) of a device might lock you into an ecosystem, the actual device (like an eReader) doesn’t. For example, if you have a Kindle, you can email an EPUB file to your Kindle address after you convert it to MOBI or AZW3 using Calibre. If you are reading on a Kobo, Nook, or similar e-reader that reads EPUB natively, you have more flexibility when considering the download site to use. Most e-readers can be connected to a PC or Mac via USB and side-loaded with additional files. Consider the e-book format your e-reader uses when selecting a download site. For reading on your phone or tablet, most ePUB readers have apps for reading on these, such as Moon+ Reader or Lithium. You simply need to get hold of an ePUB copy of a book and then upload it to your reader’s folder. It’s a whole lot easier than trying to get books onto eReaders.
