They all left the room and I focused on Adrian. "It feels so nice having your parents with your right?" He asked and I nodded my head. "How are you feeling? Are you feeling twenty yet or you are not?" He asked and I chuckled. "Was that how the felt twenty eight when you turned twenty eight?" I asked. "Yes. You should be able to feel your age to claim that age. Do not worry, If you do not feel twenty one then we might just have to go clubbing together. I've been thinking of that for sometime s now," he said and i quirked my eyebrows.

His smirk returned, but it was different this time then it turned into a frown, “I'm not going to go to jail for this, am I?” I rolled my eyes, “I'm not a kid. I'm more than 18 and you're just about four-five years older than I am!” “Actually… It's just three years. I'm three years older than you are.” “What?!” I yelled, blinking at him like he’d just dropped a bombshell. Kaidon looked annoyingly smug, arms folded now like he was enjoying every second of my confusion. “You heard me.” He said, dragging out the words, “You’re eighteen plus a few months. I’m twenty-two. Oh, that’s like three years and a few months.”

"Give me like twenty minutes. I'm not twenty-one anymore." "You're doing just fine for fifty-six." "Flattery will get you everywhere." "Good to know."

“Aren’t you too young for this? The business… it’s not something to just step into.” He tilted his head, a small smirk playing on his lips. “Aren’t we about the same age?” “No." " I'm 18, soon be 19,” He said. " You?” "22,” I said bluntly. “Not quite the same.” He shrugged. “Close enough.” Not the same but close enough to feel the comparison sting. I didn’t reply. Instead, I poured myself another glass, the amber liquid catching the light, letting it warm my chest.

“Whenever someone decides to hire me somewhere.” “What are you talking about? You know you can get a job at one of my spots. Be a pizza boy or work in a bar. How old are you now anyway? 21?” “19.” “Oh.” He scratched under his shirt, exposing that black rug underneath. “Be a busboy then.”

So it's Wednesday and I'm sitting on my bed contemplating on whether I should follow Woods orders or what? But today is my birthday, my twenty-second birthday and I'm feeling bolder and happier. Like I just turned twenty-two-years-fucking-old! I don't know why that's my favourite age but it is!

“I… uh…” “I like you, Ariana,” Alexei said, cutting gently through her hesitation. “A lot. I know I joke around a lot, but this isn’t one of those times. I really, really like you. But…” He hesitated, his tone turning soft. “You’re still young.” “I’m eighteen,” Ariana said immediately, straightening her shoulders. “I’m legal.” Alexei chuckled quietly. “And I’m twenty-six.” She smirked. “Eight years. Big deal. Donatella’s twenty, and Mikhail’s twenty-eight. What’s the difference?”
