Heaven wrapped itself around the two of them and held them tight for a moment of bliss. She hated that it was over, but happy it had happened. She wished she didn't have to wait for the next time she had him like this, but he had a plane to catch. Their ten minutes in heaven were up. “Time to get going,” she whispered, but she didn't move to help him up. She liked the feeling of his weight like a blanket on top of her. “Just five more minutes,” he muttered into her ear. “Don't make me use my mom voice,” she warned. He opened one eye and looked at her. She raised her chin up so she could look down her nose at him. “Ethan White, you get up and get on your plane right this instant.”

“I… I’m…” “Come for me, little one. Show me what you feel.” “I’M GOING TO… I’M…” I arched completely. And in the exact moment my body exploded for the first time… the only thing I could think was: “If this is heaven… then its name is Declan.”

He wiped his face using his hands due to frustration. “Why does it have to be like this when I'm in a hurry?” he said unto himself. He shut his eyes and massaged his head. It’s all gray, the place is colored ashes, out of nowhere. Her surrounding is full of ashes color. She tried to run but she can't move, not even an inch of her finger. All she can move are her eyes. The ashes begun to be a fug on her sight and in a few hours, it began to become white. She can't still move but she saw three people. "I... Am I in heaven?" she asked with a voice full of weakness that even she, herself can't hear it.

The empty road offered no answer. Only silence. Then— Buzz. My entire body froze. The phone. My shaking fingers reached for it. A new message flashed across the screen. Unknown Number. Instantly, dread curled through my chest. Slowly, I opened it. The pale glow illuminated my tear-streaked face. One sentence. Only one. Yet it felt like a death sentence. My blood turned to ice. YOU HAVE SEVEN DAYS LEFT.

The wine inside slides and sloshes, unnoticed. “Seven days?” I manage, tasting each syllable like a bitter afterthought. My voice comes out smaller than I want. The room sways—the banners on the walls, the aged wood of the table, and Selena herself: composed, unbothered, as if she has only announced the weather. She watches me with those calculating eyes, the ones that never look away. “Yes,” she repeats. No tremor, no hesitation. “Seven days. Enough time to bind him, to train him, to make him seem inevitable.”

He just treated her like she was invisible. “Dare,” someone decided for her, grinning. “No way she gets truth.” Layla’s stomach dropped. “What’s the dare?” someone asked eagerly. Everyone paused and then— “Seven minutes in heaven.” Laughter rippled through the group. “With any guy you want.” The expectation was immediate and crushing as whispers started. “ She’ll pick him.” “ Of course she’ll pick him. She always does.” They wanted her humiliated and begging,still loyal after everything.

Bryan’s gaze swept over my body with a bone-chilling coldness. “We haven’t met in so long. Aren’t you… going to say hello?” I looked at him, and my lips parted slightly. A thousand words gathered on my tongue, yet what came out was something else. “Bryan, please lend me another $300,000.” Bryan was stunned for a moment. A hint of anger lit up his cold eyes. He grabbed my hand. “We haven’t met for seven years, and this is all you have to say to me?”

The measure had long since passed 27 ounces, but he didn't show any sign of stopping. My field of vision was already starting to go dark, and I felt energy and warmth being drawn out of my body mercilessly. Along with it, went any last vestiges of lingering affection I had, left from the thirty years we spent together. And so, I passed out again.
