“Urgent news from our border scouts—!” Stefan immediately interrupted sharply. “What happened?” The guard straightened instantly. “Beta… the academy has fallen.” Stefan froze. “…What?” “The academy has fallen,” the guard repeated excitedly. Stefan stared at him in disbelief. “What academy…?” Then realization struck him. His eyes widened slightly. “…Ashbourne Academy?” “Yes, Beta.” Shock crossed Stefan’s face fully now. “But how?” he demanded quickly. “And by whom?” The guard swallowed once before replying.

Adrian poured himself a cup of coffee. “My brother just graduated from university and has yet to find work,” said Shay with a smile. Adrian took a sip and glared at Shay. Shay said, “Which part of him piqued your interest?” “Who are you referring to?” “Barry,” Shay said. “His sincerity, I guess,” Adrian answered. “I remember you having other apprentices in the past. Barry is supposed to be your sixth while the five prior ones have all died in battle, right?” Shay said.

That was his talent and right, just as it was Red Rose’s talent and right to apply her mind and body to battle – even if it meant doing something other Barbarians did not know how to do. Yes, the arrogant barbarian, one who belonged to a manmade race which disdained the use of techniques and focused on applying only themselves to battle, used a technique herself. A race that was considered too dull to study the complexities involved manipulating the tricky net of Edict for their own gain, had not just birthed a genius capable of developing such complex techniques, it had birthed another who was able to learn some of these techniques.

I want to mark it, claim it— "It is good." I rise, needing air, needing distance but Akemi faces me. “I apologize. I don’t see your culture as barbaric—” “You don’t?” I almost laugh. Ozaiah chuckles. “I know the human realms use that word often when they speak of us. I did not name myself the Barbarian Alpha King. It was the human kingdoms that honoured me with the title.” Her throat bobs, eyes dropping—and then the tears come. Again. "Enough with the crying!"

as an account of his journey. 2,600 years ago, when the people of Decarabian rebelled, led by the Nameless Bard Barbatos (then known as "the Elf"), the Decarabian 's former lover Amos, and the Red-haired Warrior, when Clan Brunilderin, led by his current namesake Brunilderin, also takes part in the battle.

Arkyn said with a small nod to her as he turned to leave. Alice watched him begin walking away. She had never been the helpless kind, never needed anyone; He was used to being alone but part of her was growing attached to his ways. Even though they barely speak other than to tell her orders, there was some type of caring underlying them. She was starting to wonder if the rumors were right. Was he really a barbarian? “Eat.” He shouted to her as he turned the corner.

"Lord Vaer. We don't need to have a fight to the death to settle this. What you want is a castle of your own and a thriving city for your people. That can easily be gotten if you ride with us into battle. With the support of both Myknos and Imras, you could have a castle of your own and live like a king. All without shedding blood." The barbarian chief laughed and causing his soldiers surrounding the camp to slap their chests and utter war cries that left her skin crawling with fear. These men were seasoned warriors that wouldn't hesitate to cut them down where they stood and they had already proved that with the number of men whose blood and bodies now lay on the cold floor beneath them.

Wiping it briefly Skye watched the man stand back up straight. "Exactly! Your kind should go home!" a barbarian said in agreement. "Why did you have to exist and cause us to suffer so much?" another snapped angrily. "Magic users should just die" "Exactly! Just drop dead already!" "Drop dead" the barbarians started to chant as the leader smirked at Skye, his knights and the villagers. "See? You all are a hindrance, so why don't you go home and-" the leader gurgled in surprise as pain suddenly filled his stomach. Looking down he saw a long sword sticking out of his stomach stunning him to silence.

"I know you" said the leader in his raucous deep voice pointing at Hugo, Hugo who till then didn't paid any attention to the leader, looked at him, "You are Hugo the General" exclaimed the leader, the lea

“Shouldn’t he have a special room or even his own building?” Barry smiled faintly as he folded clothes. “Alpha Connor is very humble. To him, everyone is equal here at the academy. He doesn’t like special treatment, so he chooses to stay in the senior dorm just like everyone else.” In my heart, I snorted. So he was the “good Alpha” type? Or was Barry just feeding me bullshit? I pretended to nod in understanding and continued, “But I heard… he can be quite ruthless.” “Yes,” Barry answered flatly. “He is ruthless when dealing with enemies.”
