Maya whispered.
“They’re just anchors, Maya.” Aria turned to a massive screen. Cities flashed across it—London, Lagos, New York, Tokyo. In each, a red dot blinked. “The world’s a mess. Fighting everywhere. The Reset took too long. With your energy, we don’t have to rebuild. We just change the people.”
Aria pressed a button. Lightning shot through Maya. She screamed. On the screen, the red dots spread, growing and crawling across the map like a disease.
