A Fall From Grace Novels & Stories

A capsule. Inside? A flash drive. She plugged it into her phone. Thousands of files unfolded, voice memos, genetic research, even personal letters. But one stood out. A video. She hit play. The Truth About Grace Jade appeared on-screen, younger. Before the surgeries. Before the empire. “Grace, if you’re seeing this, it means I failed again. I failed to keep you from the truth, and I failed to destroy the evidence.” Her voice cracked. “You weren’t born. You were chosen.”

She was going to need it. She grabbed it and without a thoughtful or even listening mind, carelessly stepped out of the Carr almost making her fall. Dante stopped that from happening, quick, like a snap of a finger to use his body to break the fall. It was a stupid choice of saving for both of them because they both fell onto the ground. Grace's body letched and she flew. Even now that she was up, the feeling was still there. "I'm so--"

There was regret in his dead grey eyes as he finished that sentence. The man in front of him stood around two inches taller, his hair also dark brown though it was cut shorter on the back and sides but slightly longer on the top. He looked at his brother his ocean blue eyes, bloodshot from sleep deprivation. Another door opened and a woman entered, she had raven black hair braided into a fishtale plait and her blueish-green eyes filled with saddness though she had a look of determination on her face. She was short and skinny, but she had some muscle definition in her arms. "It is done." She stated loud enough for both men to hear. "She is gone." A tear slipped down her cheek as the taller of

a reporter asked. "Money," Richard said simply. "Grace's business was failing. She needed funds. She saw our family's wealth and decided to create a scandal. To manipulate public opinion. To force a massive divorce settlement." "Her business wasn't failing!" Grace shouted at the screen. "I was doing fine until Mason started stealing from me!" Catherine dabbed her eyes with a tissue. "And poor Sophia. A troubled woman with mental health issues. Grace manipulated her. Fed her delusions. Convinced her that Mason was having an affair. Pushed her until she snapped."

He just needed to make a single phone call to ruin Brutus' life for good. Soon, Brutus found himself at the mercy of everyone he crossed paths with. His company went bankrupt, and his creditors even managed to find him and give him a few good beatings.

he said. “We don’t have to go through this again, Tokodi. Those people are not even my friends. Only Gracie and a few others can own that tag. Plus it doesn’t matter. You think I’m morally bankrupt and promiscuous. We did well to go our separate ways so please tell your mother that things didn’t work out,” she said.

“You wouldn’t have heard of it. It’s strictly between heaven, hell and the fallen.” “What’s a fallen?” “It’s someone who used to be an angel in a past life. When they’re resurrected, they’re identified by a specific birth mark. You, my dear, are one of the fallen. You should have a birth mark that’s shaped like a star. It’s in different places for different individuals but your parents found yours on your hipbone.” What the hell. This is way too much information that I wasn’t expecting. I’m essentially in the middle of a holy war, if what she’s saying is the truth.

“Fourteen years. That earns you something. But Drew? He’s got people now. Real people. You start sniffing around, they’ll notice. And they won’t care who took the fall.” Meekey smirked. “Let ‘em notice.” “You trying to get revenge?” She shook her head. “Not revenge.” He looked at her a long moment. “Then what?” “Balance.”

Love and Light was Vanessa’s first home, her church—the one place where her fears dissipated, and sanity embraced her reality. Her mother taught her the values of living a good Christian life, and even taught her how to pray her first prayers before meals. It had been that way longer than Vanessa could remember, and every Sunday always seemed even more beautiful than the previous Sunday—the choir sang more cheerfully, the preaching was more fulfilling and the smiles she got from everyone around her were more inspiring. And it was this way every Sunday, until one Sunday when Vanessa learnt her boyfriend she had been dating for two years was cheating on her.

Her chest began to ache, and she just hoped to regain Evan's compassion. Evan paused briefly as he walked away. Unbeknownst to Grace, his heart ached as well. Emotions surged within him, and he felt the urge to express his anger. However, he didn't want to create a scene. Being with Grace reminded him of why their friendship had to end. As Evan walked away, Grace sank to her knees in the sand. She sobbed until her voice became inaudible. The comfort she had hoped to find in Evan’s presence only intensified her pain. Her disappointment in his attitude pierced her heart deeply.
