Chapter Forty-Five Days have passed quietly, and it was peaceful. I didn't even realize it's been almost two weeks. The days were actually very peaceful because the lesson was easy to understand, and Professor James was not possessed by demons. Our magic lesson was focused on gathering mana in the surrounding. And my mana was actually recovering at a good pace, thanks to the pearl supplements. I didn't have the first clue and a small whine escaped from me as I tried to figure it out. Derek understood my dilemma, "Just relax, take a deep breath, and concentrate hard on being human. The magic should do it automatically." I took a deep breath and tried to picture myself as I looked in the mirror. I put all my will into that thought and concentrated on becoming human. It took me a long moment, but I felt the world begin to melt and shimmer around me. I ended up crouched on the table completely naked.

The old man sat cross legged on one and motioned for me to sit on the other. "Call your magic" "Huh?" this guy is crazy. I was starting to regret my decision to train with him. "I already told you before. The magic is you. Imagine it as a blanket covering you and order it to do your bidding." I took his advice and imagined my magic like a blanket it was similar to the meditation sessions Selena drilled into me. I felt it spread over my body until it was like every hair on my body was standing on its end. As soon as everyone is on the field the Exam Master began. “We’re going to start with your power ball. Let me see your magic” we did so. Everyone created a power ball in our hands. I saw some mage created a ball of wind, fire, rock, mirror, cloud and a lot more. On my right hand is a ball of light. I was smiling at my magic ball until I was blinded with so much light. The light was too blinding that I was sure that I wasn’t the only one who was affected. After almost a minute, the blinding light started to vanish into thin air and my sight was back to normal. I saw almost all the mages looking at me. I was in the back most of the crowd so they were all looking back to me.

His voice carried easily, resonant and commanding. “Today’s lesson,” he began, chalk snapping against the board as he scrawled a single word, Resonance, “is about what lies beneath your power.
