Chapter 1: Goodbye Father

Mayari woke up as the sun's ray pass through her window in complete blinding brightness shouting to her to get up.

Hearing the clock tick she couldn't afford to miss her flight. She then went out of bed and went to the bathroom to do her morning routine.

After breakfast, she then took all of her luggage and head to the parking lot to find her car.

As she walk, she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket, she push her hand deep to the opening and grab it.

But a woman, in a hurry, accidentally bump Mayari, causing her to accidentally let go of her phone. The phone then instantly got pulled by the gravity and smash to the floor.

"Oh my, I'm sorry dear." The woman then grabbed her phone and dusted it by her hand.

The woman is in her 30's and holds an elegant mother-like beauty. She have dark chestnut hair cascading down her shoulders in big curls, and fair peachy skin with blue bright eyes that display her positive personality.

She gave the phone back to Mayari but it was already shattered and cracked. Mayari took her phone and tried to open it but it only made funny sounds and flashings lights

"Oh I'm very sorry, dear, how much is your phone I'll pay for it." The woman then reach to her bag to get her wallet.

"That's not necessary," Mayari stop her, "I could buy my own phone so there's no need for you to pay."

"Are you sure, dear?" The woman asked.

Mayari nodded. "Just watch out where you're going next time." Mayari advice as she throw her busted phone to a nearby trash can.

"Blessed you, dear." The woman suddenly push her index finger to Mayari's forehead and then left with a smile.

Mayari touch her own forehead as she turned slightly to see the woman walking away, never looking back.

She find it strange but she then discard it from her mind and continued to walk ahead that she didn't notice the woman vanishing from behind.

Mayari got to her car and started the engine. She drove an hour to the airport and ride another hour in the plane.

Then finally arrived at her home country. A private car sent by Oliver, his father's secretary, is already waiting at her outside the airport, so she doesn't need to call a taxi and just immediately hop right in.

The driver then drove her directly to her father's villa, a white beautiful mansion that stands right to the edge of a cliff.

This is her father's favorite vacation spot. Well known for the beautiful scenery of the aquamarine ocean and the blue high sky accompanied by white cotton clouds.

Mayari entered the villa and got welcomed by the maids, that handled her luggage, and Oliver.

"Welcome back to the country, Ms. Mayari." Oliver smiled, "How are you?"

"I'm fine." Mayari shortly replied. "Where's father?" And then asked straight to the point.

"Your father will be arriving in the villa this evening, he have some work in his criminal organization that he must immediately tend before having a vacation." He replied.

"I see..."

"Why don't you help yourself with a relaxing comfort before meeting your father." He offered but Mayari declined and head straight to her room.

She waited throughout the day and when the night got deeper to the sea, she was informed by Oliver that her father have arrived and is ready to see her.

Oliver also escorted her to an open balcony and there she saw a man on the edge, smoking and staring at the moon.

He is on his late 40's, wearing a black luxurious suit with a dangled necktie. His black hair are mixed with dull white and his brown skin are slightly wrinkled and smudge.

"Sir Adolf, your daughter is here." Oliver informed.

Mayari then walk towards him and spoke, "You have summoned me, father?"

Adolf then blew a mouthful of smoke before he replied. "Come, Mayari."

Mayari then took a step closer to the edge of the balcony, side by side with her father.

"Look at the moon." Adolf pointed out.

And Mayari then turned her gaze to the moon that face the earth with its gentle light.

"It is as round as a coin and as bright as a silver sun, kinda reminds me of the night of the past... the night where I killed my idiotic wife." He then chuckled in delight.

"Oh my beloved Lisa." He grinned even wider as he repeatedly recalled the memory of his first love and first kill.

"If you called me here just to adore the moon and making me remember mom's tragic death then might as well dismiss me because we're just wasting time." Mayari demanded.

"Have some fun in your time, my beloved daughter, take that cold mask of yours off for a moment." Adolf blew another smoke.

"This is my face not a mask." Mayari coldly replied.

"You know what I meant." Adolf glared. "You need to relax. I'll go get you a wine."

Adolf then turned with his heels and walk to a near table where a wine and two glass are in place.

"You did this in purpose..." Mayari stated.

"I don't know what you are talking about?" Adolf denied as he pour wine to the first glass.

"Tonight is mom's death anniversary."

"So you do remember." He then pour wine to the next glass.

"I won't forget that easily."

"Then that's astonishing."

Mayari suddenly heard a gun being grabbed, in instinct she then grabbed her own gun under her skirt and pointed it to her father just like how Adolf pointed the familiar gun on her own daughter.

They stayed silent for minutes as they stare at each others souls. Until Adolf started to laughed, breaking the silence between him and his daughter.

"Come on, Mayari!" Adolf exclaimed, "We both know that you couldn't kill me no matter how hard you push yourself."

Adolf then raise both of her hand along with the gun, leaving his body wide open.

"Shoot!" He ordered.

The tension in the atmosphere rise to it's highest but Mayari stayed still and didn't say a word.

"Shoot!" He ordered again.

But Mayari didn't pull the trigger, instead, dropped her gun to the floor along with her indifferent stare, knowing that she could never ever bring herself to kill her own father. He is all what she have got.

"Just like I thought." Adolf pointed his gun once again. "You are not as cold blooded as everyone thought you are."

"Remember how beloved mommy Lisa died, Mayari?" He asked to her like she was a child.

"She died with six bullets buried against her torso." She replied.

"Very good, Mayari." He praise, "Do you remember this gun?"

"That's the same pistol you used to kill her." Mayari once again replied correctly, still pinning her stare down to the floor.

"Excellent!" Her father praise once again as he clap with a sick expression of madness in his face.

"And that is how I will kill you." He laughed. "This is what you get for holding on past ties that have already been broken since years ago."

"That affection of yours weakens you and is the one to blame for your enslavement." Adolf utter, "I am your weakness, you could have killed me many times but you chose to serve... and to fear me."

Three bullets then hit Mayari like walls of metal in her abdomen. She lost her balance and kneeled down to the floor holding her wound as blood stained her blue dress and drip to the floor forming her own bloody pool of roses.

"I am your nightmare and your reaper of death." Adolf stated, "Now prepare to die."

"Wait..." Mayari immediately huff.

Mayari's word cause Adolf to miss his aim and the bullet hit her shoulder instead of her chest.

"What?" Adolf coldly asked with a deadly glare.

Mayari breath air through her teeth as she tried her best to bare the pain.

"Why didn't you just killed me sooner?" She asked with a downcast face accompanied by pain.

"I trained you to be an assassin of my criminal organization to let you experience suffering and torture before you die in exhaustion." Adolf answered, "But you suddenly improved and became skillful. I was about to kill you myself right away but you brought big profits and blessed my organization with fame, so I decided to spare you."

"Now that I don't need your service anymore, your fired." Adolf was about to shoot the last two bullets but he was drawn into a halt when Mayari took a stand.

"You have four bullets in you and you still manage to stand. You're tougher than I thought," Adolf mockingly praise, "but still, you can't escape your death."

Mayari then looked at her father one last time with daze eyes.

"Goodbye, father." She said.

Mayari then leaned backward and let herself fall out of the balcony and got thrown to the rampaging ocean below.

She watch as the moon above smiled at her with glowing light. The moon have always been by her side all the time and somehow made her at ease everytime she gaze at the night sky.

While the stars only laugh at her and hid to the darkness, but the moon is different and welcomed her with an illuminating light brighter than all the stars combined.

Mayari felt the ocean water near and she immediately close her eyes feeling the cold liquid soak her body as she dive right to the surface, and let herself sink to the depth.

Her blood rapid splattered at the ocean like red smoke, and her wounds ache at the salty water that brush her.

She never opened her eyes and just give in to the grasp of unconsciousness, that she didn't saw a glowing dot suddenly appeared in her forehead and rapidly scattered throughout her body, enveloping her with hundreds of fireflies.

After the light fully consumed Mayari, it immediately disperse and vanished along with her.
