I frowned slightly. “We?”
He gave a faint, bittersweet smile. “Yeah. You and me.”
He turned, heading toward the door. Before leaving, he stopped, glancing back at me one last time. “Try to rest, okay? I’ll be right outside.”
When the door clicked shut, I lay there staring at the ceiling, my heart pounding.
