My fingers finally let go of the sediment they were holding on to for dear life, and the earth stopped shaking, settling back into its silent, still form.
My shoulder was most likely dislocated, a throbbing agony, and my rib was undoubtedly broken, a sharp, searing pain with every shallow breath, but I was still alive. Barely. Trying to move was not even an option, the pain too immense, my body too broken. I could only hope someone found me soon. My eyes grew heavy, the golden light fading, and my lashes swept over my cheek a few times before I finally succumbed to the overwhelming exhaustion, my body giving out.
