Across the city, in the Crane estate, Savannah probably sat with her wine glass, swirling it lazily, her voice dripping with satisfaction. “They’re drowning in damage control,” she’d say, her tone smug. “By the time they prove those emails fake, Adrian’s reputation will be in ashes.”
Walter would raise his glass beside her, that cold, cruel smile stretching across his face. “To victory,” he’d say.
But as I stood beside Adrian, watching the first sunrise after another night without sleep, I made myself a promise.
