I knew he’d be there, brooding as usual. The balcony overlooked the labyrinth and the Whispering Woods beyond. Rhydan stood at the railing, eyes fixed on something below. I followed his gaze. Fenric and Anwen, nearly at the end of the maze, slipping into the forest. He’d already put her down. I imagined she must still be yelling, cursing him for every step he forced her to take. I fought down a grin. “Our brother seems to have taken a liking to this one,” I muttered. Rhydan didn’t look at me. “Fenric’s a mutt,” he said dryly. “He goes into rut whenever he scents a female from miles off.”

Mouthy for no reason. Beautiful. Catherine’s voice interrupted the thought immediately. “The initials sewn into it,” she said slowly. “It says RW. Your initials are LR.” I nearly cursed internally. Shit. My fingers tightened around the hoodie instinctively while my brain scrambled for something believable. Anything. “Me and the guys used to do that,” I replied smoothly after a second. “Sew each other’s initials into random stuff.” Her brows furrowed slightly. I kept my expression completely neutral. “The RW stands for Ryan and Warren.”

she calls out, a smirk playing at her lips. She just had to end with another jab about the formal. Right when Axel was here. God, I’ll kill this girl someday. Axel, however, doesn’t seem to pick up on Corey’s final remark. His eyes are fixed on the book in front of me. “What are you reading?” “It’s… nothing. Just a story.” But almost as if he can sense my bluff, he flips the front page with ease, revealing the title sprawled in bold letters: LYCANTHROPY: HISTORY, MYTHS & OLD FOLKLORE.

Something has changed. I don’t know how or really even when exactly, but writing and reading my fanfic isn’t doing it for me anymore. It used to be everything, all I needed, what I lived for, and obsessed over in my limited free time but now it’s not enough. I read the words, and expect to get hot and bothered and ready to touch myself as usual, and the need just isn’t there. It’s not that it doesn’t turn me on, it’s just not as exciting. What I’m now obsessed with is having Bryce and Wyatt in real life.
