Adrian’s voice was calm, but there was an icy firmness to it.
Marcelline strode forward quickly, the click of her heels echoing across the marble floor. “Do you think this decision is fair? You’ve only just returned, and suddenly your grandfather hands everything to you? What about me? What about my son, Nicholas?!”
Adrian straightened his posture, exhaling slowly. “That was Grandfather’s decision, not mine. I never asked for this inheritance.”
“Don’t play innocent, Adrian!” Marcelline jabbed a trembling finger at him. “You wormed your way back into his good graces, sought sympathy, and snatched away what should have been Nicholas’s!”
