Later, as the gathering dispersed and the moon began its slow descent, I stood alone at the edge of the clearing, watching the realms breathe easier beneath the stars. Killian joined me, silent as ever. “You did it,” he said softly. I shook my head. “We did.” He smiled faintly. “The gods won’t like that.” I smiled too, slow and knowing. “Let them,” I murmured. I had died once bound by fate. Lived again under its shadow and risen, not to fulfill prophecy, but to break it. I looked up at the moon, light cool against my skin. “I was reborn to defy fate,” I whispered to the night. “And this time… I choose my ending.”

It was Drew and my mother. Mom had aged badly. Her hair had gone gray and her clothes were wrinkled and ill-fitting. Drew, at least, was put together, but the exhaustion behind his eyes was impossible to miss. "Lena." Drew spoke first. "I've put in for a transfer to the Northern District. If it goes through, I could be here as soon as next month." He looked at me, earnest and steady. "I want to do this right. I want to start over and earn you back. Will you give me one chance?"

“I've answered the question with the ghouls so what else do you want to know.” “You still owe me an explanation that.” Catalina said as a matter of fact. “Very well then. Charles what is your question?” Fate looked at me, from above us, scrolls were sorting themselves out and selecting a few. The chosen ones floated down to the table and arranged itself. Catalina stared with wide eyes. “Why did you create her? Can her fate not be changed? Is there something she can do to save the world if her fate can't be changed?” Fate’s eye shifted from Catalina to I then back to Catalina. “I will take her first so she won't be grumpy and ruin her pretty face.”

He asked her in a curt tone but Georgia kept quiet. “I'm asking a question!!! What's your name!!!” He yelled so hard that everyone flinched feeling a cold spine run through them. “Georgia Brooke” she replied in a shaky voice. “I, Jared Cameron, the Alpha of the blue moon pack, reject you, Georgia Brooke of the blue moon pack as my fated mate.." And that was it. Georgia felt a pain coursing through her body.

I tried not to make any noise at all and even though my body was hurting like crazy, I still stood up and went back to listen. Yes I was gifted with immortality but my ability to heal was very slow.
