He whispered, “The connection between two worlds will be severed after this.” The three looked into the book that was slowly turning to ashes, their eyes complicated. “We can’t do anything about it,” Ayja said. “We really can’t.” Anatoli rubbed Orcenal’s back to give him just a little bit more support. I snorted when they snapped off their glasses, their eyes widening when they realized that I wasn't one of their colleagues. “It's too late to be smart, boys,” I cackled, smashing the gas pedal down as hard as I could. My sedan collided with the road block, metal on metal screeching in an earsplitting sound, raising enough dust to make them temporarily blind for a millisecond. The momentum enabled me to blast past the two cars. Throwing a careless glance back, the vampires were gone. Out of sight. Vanished into thin air, perhaps. I didn't dare hope. It seemed highly unlikely that my small collision had successfully killed them.

Milo and Gabe were both tense, their eyes fixed on the middle of the hillside where the two cars were about to collide. They dared not even breathe. As seconds ticked away, just as the black one was about to collide, the white sports car swiftly reversed. However, even though her reaction was quick, it was still too late. We’re both moving, ragged and urgent, and when her walls clench around me again, it sends me right over the edge. “Fuck!” I curse, loud and raw, as I spill into the condom.
