Liam: I waited outside the estate’s main doors, adjusting the cuffs of my shirt as if that would help the nerves crawling under my skin. I wasn’t supposed to be nervous. "Open the gate, now!“ he barked and Greg immediately carried out his command, unlocking and swiping the big metal gate open. And there was this surge of pride that ran through my veins. Aiden was barely twenty one, yet he portrayed the qualities of an Alpha waiting to take over.

I waved and smiled at her, but she remained shyly behind the door. "That's my sister, Mary." Adam introduced his sister to me. "Mary, this is Laird, my friend." "Oh, this is your little sister you mentioned yesterday. How old is she?" I asked. "Six years old," Adam replied with a chuckle. And surprisingly— Several included Aiden smiling. Actually smiling. I stopped briefly near one picture. A younger Aiden stood beside his mother while holding what looked like an academic award. He couldn’t have been older than sixteen. His expression looked less guarded there. Softer. “You found blackmail material,” he muttered beside me. “I didn’t know you smiled before adulthood.” “Rare condition.” Mrs. Smith scoffed dramatically. “He used to smile all the time before becoming insufferably serious.” “I’m standing right here.”

She wasn’t happy to miss tonight’s dinner.” I give Laura a quick glare for being such a bitch. “Candice will give you a run for your money in the complaint department.” “Good, then I’ll love her.”
